Sample at The Ohio Taproom. The beer pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, roast coffee and a touch of earthy hops. The finish is bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Above average overall.

Sample bottle. Looking forward to this one, Brandon said it was his favorite of the bunch... And after having a couple examples of pale (and sweet) beers from these guys, I’m curious to try something dark. Oh man, from the first sip... Indeed, this porter is hitting the spot. Great roast malt, a touch of smoke, good earthy hop. Coffee, light cocoa nib. Seems a bit more bitter than the gose, winter, and blond I have tried so far, which I’m thankful for. Lighter sweet, kinda more dry finish. Black color. A ring of off-white head, with decent ropes of lace. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation, with a very satisfying chewy texture. More dry finish. Good long aromatic aftertaste. Really nice porter, I am impressed. rondphoto (4540) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - NOV 17, 2014
on tap @ Old Firehouse / Williamsburg OH --- Clear, very dark brown with an ivory rim head and hanging strands of lace. Taste is brisk toasted malt with a little bit of chocolate, perhaps a hint of licorice that turns a little more bitter on the swallow before winding down in a lingering finish. An dry, earthy overtone hangs behind everything. GnarlyGnome (673) - Fairfield, Ohio, USA - OCT 11, 2014
Draft: Pours very dark brown with a small tan head. This is a load of chocolate and coffee...very nice drinking and delicious. This is a perfect example of the style, and I can’t wait to drink a few of these this winter. Well done! drsordr (2973) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - SEP 21, 2014

Draft sample at Cincy Beerfest 2014 on Fountain Square. Pours a deep brown color with a beige head. Looks the part. Notes of toasted malts, coffee, earth, chocolate, and nuts. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and an earthy, chocolaty mouthfeel. Straightforward porter, and it works.
