COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This red lager style which originated in Vienna, Austria gained its notoriety for its malt forward flavours. Old Flame Red is brewed with a hefty dose of caramel malt which adds a nice sweetness to the beer. At first you will notice the bread, toast and caramel aromas and flavours which lead to a smooth, dry finish. Incredibly balanced, this lager can be enjoyed by both ale and lager drinkers.

Metalchopz (3529) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 9, 2017
Big tall can, Imperial pint size. Pours a clean amber colour, more on the darker side, with a big frothy warm cap, long lasting with some foamy lacing. Red ale aromas with well-blended notes of roasted malts, caramel, nuts and light hops. The taste is even nuttier, with some bread and the mild hops finishing off things. Not a bad red ale that is easy to drink beer.

Pours reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is caramel and toffee malts and light hops. Taste is light earthy malts with caramel and toffee malt bill. A little too sweet for me.

Pours dark copper with a short lived off white head. Aroma is mildly malty. Taste is slightly bitter. There are notes of nutty toasted malt, floral hops, and a hint of caramel. There’s some pretty substantial off flavours, dms, metal and a tart apple like after taste. Medium bodied and moderately carbonated. As long as you keep drinking this it’s not, bad but it’s got a vicious aftertaste.

Can from the LCBO. Dark copper body with a just-off-white head that shrinks quickly but sticks around in its diminished form for most of the glass. Aroma and flavour are both malt-forward as is expected from the style, with notes of caramel, raisin and toasted grains. A slight nutty character as well. Finish is moderately hopped, with a nice herbal and twiggy tone. A very good Vienna - it’s just a shame that the can/branding is so ugly.

568 ml can from LCBO. Pours a clear copper colour with small cream-coloured head. Aroma is toasted grains, caramel and light nuts. Flavour has modestly toasty grains, gently sweet caramel, nuts and a gentle hoppiness. Average body. Solid one.

I so wanted this to be better, Had tried a couple of theirs in some locals, pretty good. The canned version is a bit sweet, a bit flat. Still tasty , still pretty damn good Admit lager is my why bother beer. Better than most looking forward to some of the others

Can - Woody and toffee twig notes. Dark Amber with a thin white head. Toffee and twig notes with a touch of bitterness. More like a strong bitter.
