Cask @ Upper George Hotel, Halifax. Dark copper-red with a creamy head. It's a malty ale, not much 'dark' influence apart from its colour. niquillis (2752) - Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 20, 2017

Cask conditioned at York Beer Festival ’13. Dark brown with cream head. Quite a malty beer, dry and bitter rather than fruity. Thin on the palate. I didn’t get the chocolate nor sweetness. Not keen. bhensonb (16263) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 13, 2013
Cask at the Roman Bath in York. Pours very dark brown with a truly creamy beige head. Light mocha aroma. Med body. Flavor is dusty chocolate with dark malt. It thins rapidly. Gets a touch chalky. Tasty without being filling. Finishes dry and bitter. dogbomb (1270) - ENGLAND - NOV 28, 2012
Cask. Brown/ruby ale with an offwhite thick head. Nose of toffee and fudge and malt. A little creamy toffee. Taste is mellow - creamy light toffee, amaretto biscuit, slight nuttiness. Finish is a bit lighter than I'd like for a porter, but a pleasant drink overall.

Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival in October 2011. Cask, gravity dispense. Black mahogany in colour with a thin white head. Roast malt evident in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts give a sweet flavour of plain chocolate, coffee, dark berry fruit and dry liquorice. Bitter resins give a short dusty hoppy aftertaste which compliments the dry roasted malt flavours. The finish is dry with sweet black treacle and liquorice notes. An excellent session porter. Ober (2811) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - NOV 22, 2011
Cask @ 2nd Saltburn Beer Festival. A brown colored beer, with a light beige head. The aroma of dark malts, notes of sour and fruits. Cask at GBBF 2010. A brown beer with a light tan head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt as well as lighter notes of coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt as well as lighter notes of oats, leading to a bitter and hoppy finish. The body is light. A bit odd. Cask/gravity at Ealing beer festival 2011. Very dark brown with little head, aromas of treacle tart and fruitcake, on the palate more treacle, dark fruit, and a faint hint of milk chocolate. Good, but a bit sweeter than I like. anders37 (28157) - Malmö, SWEDEN - FEB 21, 2011
