Last years was much better. I even thought to cellar this one for awhile to see if it would evolve into something interesting. Not so, too bad but I think this brewer does one thing well, at least they’re trying something new. hopdog (12953) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 29, 2013

Sweet, dry, phenolic. Not a particularly exciting beer. Last year’s batch was better. jcwattsrugger (12517) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - FEB 3, 2013

The bottle says it is the 2012 version, which is aged in Thomas Tew Rum barrels. The aroma is rum, chocolate, molasses, licorice, toffee. Very nice. The appearance is black, with a little translucence and a reddish hue. Light tan colored head. The flavor is rum (more than the aroma implies), some chocolate, licorice. The finish is rum, boozy, sweet. Medium in body, slightly thicker than medium, but thin for the style. Really enjoyable beverage. Not sure if 2012 should be a new beer or not.
