2007 Bottle - thanks to Toby. Pours a dark amber color with a finger of creamy beige head. Nose is bourbon based with malty and faded hop notes. Pretty much identical into the taste. Rather smooth and syrupy. Good. alexsdad06 (10803) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - NOV 7, 2009
22 oz. bottle from kp. Pours a deep amber color with a small ecru colored head (I have been waiting to use ecru). The aroma was big caramel malty goodness with vanilla, bourbon and oak. The flavor again was heavily malted, sweet, caramel, bourbon was well integrated, vanilla, smooth, some bitterness. I certainly think this is better than the ratings would indicate. Bottle sample at Knoxville Brewers Jam 2009.
Poured a hazy dark brown color with a minimal frothy off-white head that was mostly lasted and good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted sweet, woody and whiskey aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet malt and bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a standout brew. BuckeyeBoy (8469) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 22, 2009
Bottle Pours out a mahogany topped with a sand head. Aroma was of sweet malts, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and some heat. Taste was nice not over the top on the bourbon side. Plenty of the oak and sweetness to balance it out. Ibrew2or3 (8814) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 30, 2009
Courtesy of kp. Pours clear striking amber with thin white head. The aroma is oak, bourbon, vanilla and booze. It starts with a short pulse of sweet malts and ends with nose searing heat. The taste is full and smooth. I get oak mixing with vanilla and then moving toward bourbon notes. There doesn’t appear to be much more going on here than that. Certainly this is an example of barrel aging that nearly covers up all the notes from the beer that went in the barrel. Still enjoyable though. I love how smooth it is.

Sampled at BA Bolita release. Watery copper pour. Pungent bourbon aroma. Smoother sweet malt, brown sugar taste with hints of bourbon. Cletus (6368) - Connecticut, USA - JUL 3, 2009
Bomber probably from durhambeer. Pours mahogany with a dissipating white head. Smells of bourbon, cognac, oaky, fruity, spicy, earthy, sweet. Excellent, complex nose. Tastes of oak, bourbon, raisins, vanilla, oak, some light tarte hints, a touch of warming alcohol. Outstanding! daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 28, 2009
