Bottle. Black colored pour with a tan head on it. Smell is hoppy, malty, and has a fair amount of roasted chocolate in the nose. Taste sweet and hoppy, smooth and easy to drink. Refreshing to a certain degree...followed it up with a Stone Sublimely - no comparison. Reynolds314 (3433) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 9, 2011
Looks like a Black IPA, Smells like a black IPA, and tastes like a black IPA. Very flavorful and robust with hoppy notes and roasty profile. First beer by this brewery was great. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - DEC 6, 2011

This beer is very unique in that it has some taste notes that you don’t really expect. Firstly, the color is appearance of the beer is very nice with a dark chocolaty color. Their is some nice aromas that accompany this beer, with a chocolate, and even citrusy smell to go along with it. The taste has a long bitter taste to it is accompanied with a orange citrus taste as well. Very good beer with a very long finish! Warsteiner (11) - Monroe, North Carolina, USA - OCT 30, 2011

(22oz bomber best by Dec 11 thanks to Exiled) clearish deep brown with soapy edge bubbles. Nose of honey, funk, lactose, roasty, and grapefruit. Taste is roasty, bitter, grapefruit, and leans towards bitter rather than roasty or sweet. Oily body. Travlr (24277) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - OCT 8, 2011

Dark black/brown cola colored pour with a very rapidly fading khaki head. Nice pine/citrus hop aroma over subtle malty notes. Coffee chocolate mocha flavor with a blast of hop bitterness. Medium bodied with medium-high tingly carbonation and moderate astringency. Very nice. One of my favorite Olde Hickory beers.
