Bomber from Ross. Nose is roasted malt, light pine resin, and a hints of smoke and coffee. Pitch black with a medium, lightly lacing, beige head. Flavor is nicely bitter with some roasted coffee and a hint of smoke. Finishes with light bitterness and pepperiness. beernovice39 (3270) - Idaho, USA - FEB 18, 2011

Bottle from Sam - thanks! Black pour with a chunky tan head and sticky lacing. Aroma is light, dry roasted malt, a bit of chocolate, minimal pine, and hop bitterness. Taste is a roasted malt backbone with oats and light chocolate and a complimentary medium hop bitterness through the finish. This hop component seems to take a back seat to the dry, roast character and works well for me. Even mouthfeel with appropriate carbonation. Good beer. bhensonb (15251) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 1, 2012
Bomber from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours dark brown with a 3 finger creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma is roast malt, tingling hop and chocolate in that order. About med body. Flavor is bitter burnt malt, chocolate and floral/citrus/earthy hop in that order. It’s doing a bit of ring lacing, and the hop stands out firmly in the finish. Very nice. jcos (1851) - Maryland, USA - MAY 8, 2012

Appearance:Pours black with red head.
Aroma: Aroma is mostly roasted malt.
Taste: Medium high bitterness, roasty, some malt, more bitter leaning.
Palate:Medium body, smooth.
Summary: An interesting black IPA that is more aggressive hop-wise in balance than others.
Very enjoyable. Pours dark, opaque brown with brown head, lots of lacing. Palate is roast, pine, resin, slight chocolate. Finish is hoppy and moderate in length. medium weight to the body. Complex flavor that I found quite satisfying and fairly refreshing. tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - JUN 5, 2012

Pours dark brown into my tulip with large dark beige head. Roasted grain and pine abound from the nose with some raisins and grapefruit mixed in. Nice crisp hops up front with a surprise chocolate flavor. Lingering roasted flavor. Thr hop-to-chocolate profile here borders on porter. But too much bite for that. Pretty rich but maintains a crsipness through medium-strong carbonation and finishes dry. I think this is very well done, and I am pretty mixed on black IPAs. I would drink this again for sure. hman43 (1588) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - OCT 12, 2013
It is a blend of chocolate, citrus, raisins, and grapefruit in the aroma. It is black with a medium brown head. It has a strong coffee flavor with medium bitterness. There is also grapefruit with other citrus flavors. There is also a hint of raisins. woodychevy (874) - - MAY 21, 2014
From a bomber. Pours black and opaque with a decent sized khaki head. Nice roasted malt aroma- smoky, chocolate, earth, coffee. Taste is the same and it drinks like it means it. Mouthfeel is pretty slick and full- almost drinks more like a stout but tons of hops pretty much negate that feeling quickly. Nice bitterness to it. Like a happy marriage of stouts and IPA’s. Easy to sip on- could be a summer or winter beer. Clever.
