Winner of the First Olde Hickory Pro Am competition. Very limited production. Our brew master says: 71lbs of high alpha hops were used to make this limited production beer of only 13 barrels. That’s just over 20 grams of hops used for each pint! DBH was brewed with 2 row barley, Carapils and Crisp Crystal 45 malts and fermented to 7% alc/vol. DBH was hopped with 5 different West Coast hops: Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial and Cascade. Additionally, DBH was twice dry hopped with different combinations of these hops. The net result is an amazing aroma of ripe juicy fruit mixed in with a bouquet of spring flowers. DBH was brewed to a level of bitterness of 108 IBU’s, and leaves a lingering bitterness; it is, after all, a Double IPA!

From bottle. Pours a clear golden color with an off white, frothy head. I don’t get much in the way of aroma, however I can pick up a slightly grassy/resin smell. Taste is very hop forward, I don’t get much of the malts but thats how I like them. Very smooth and easy to drink, finishes with a nice hop bitterness.

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a lasting creamy off white head. Aromas of bread, dankness, grapefruit and light pine resin. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of bread, grapefruit, dankness and pine resin with a smooth dry bitter lingering dank grapefruit finish.

Tap, ADT. Clear golden orange with a sticky off-white head. Citrus and tropical fruit nose. Bitter hops flavors, oranges, lemon rind, tangerine, grapefruit, pine, caramel, resin. Medium body, zesty carb. Bitter citrus finish. Damn fine IPA.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2017 Bottle. Cloudy orange color. Bubbly white head. Dry hoppy nose. Malty backbone. Some light woody raisin notes. Flavor is dry hops, fairly bitter. Hop flavor dropped off, still bitter.

Orange color with a white head. Aroma contains some citrus and caramel. The flavor is quite malty slightly bitter. Some oranges and grapefruit. Earthy notes. Overall death by malt not hops but pretty good.

This beer is an assault on the taste buds. A golden cloudy color, it gives the non hop head, the idea that something’s wrong with it. That couldn’t be further from the truth. This is a absolutely stellar IPA with every hop that a hop head would desire. The fact that it is somewhat unfiltered is nothing short of brilliant. Thanks Olde Hickory for this collaborative effort.

Bottle from Bombers Beverage Company, Wilmington, North Carolina. Golden with a thin head. Strong tasting with some stewed tropical fruitiness, but without much character, although it gets better in its aftertaste.

Sampled at Olde Hickory Brewery (Amos Howard's Brew Pub), pours a clear orange with some slightly off white head. Nose has pine, grass, soap, some orange, lemon. Flavor has potpourri, lemon, grass, orange zest. Finishes bitter but dry. Could be balanced with a bit more malt, but yet, that's likely the point! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It’s a hop soup. Vertical flavors and orange with some notes of faint chocolate at the very end. Pretty heavy handed and good.
