Bottle @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pours a pretty clear yellow appearance with a white head. A bit woody, white grape, pear, a touch grainy aroma. Fairly dry, grape/apple fruity, somewhat oaky flavor. Weird idea that didn’t turn out all that well. DiarmaidBHK (5706) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours yellow with a thin white head. Smells a bit woody. Taste is like red wine with a dry finish and a bit of alcohol burn. The wine elements don’t complement pilsner very well. arkurzynski (2456) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Bottle from JCB - thanks! Deep hazy amber to orange pour with frothy white head. Nose is mix of chardonnay, white grape, light oak, and yeasty bread dough. Some plastic-type/soapy hops. Flavor begins mildly sweet with biscuit/graham cracker that fades to a dry oaky chardonnay grape and moderate soapy/pine hopping. Dry, yeasty finish. This one worked fairly well, but was a little rough around the edges. unclemattie (4357) - Georgia, USA - APR 29, 2013
750ml bottle, capped. $16, Brusin. Orange- golden color, yellow foam, thick head. Aroma of grapes, white oak, sweet flowers, and light peach puree. Tastes of sweet malt, honey, vanilla, bitter straw. Lingering bitterness makes me realize this is a beer, although it smells like a malted wine. Great nose! Flavor is very well balanced, nice amount of hops. It is truely worth the cash, it is a very well made barrel-aged brew. (3685) Bukowski9 (129) - Piqua, Ohio, USA - APR 1, 2013
It looked good in the glass, nice yellow orange color with a small white head but that was about it. Tasted like a weak pale ale and nothing else. Terrible.

Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured a hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Good moderate wood, hop and small malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate sweet flavor with with a moderate sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a solid beer and good of style. alexsdad06 (10656) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAR 16, 2013
750 ml bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small bubbly off white head. The aroma has some yeasty bread, herbal, mild fruits, and definite chardonnay influences. The flavor is fruity, chardonnay notes, old herbal hops, yeasty bread with some dry grass at the finish. I found this to be interesting and worth a try. Sample from a 750ml bottle. Imperial pils aged in wine barrels? This certainly must be the most exotic pils I’ve ever had. Hazy golden yellow color. Minimal off-white head, though it leaves good even spread of dotty lace. Malty, old-hop nose. Some ripe fruit. Medium to bigger body. Light, smooth carbonation. Nice sweet taste, kind of musty, little wood evident. Kind of tastes more like an ale than a lager. Very sweet, much less bite than any other imperial pils I’ve had. Kind of like somewhere between a saison, a belgian golden, and an old IPA... Aged in a chardonnay barrel. Interesting, and definitely very unique stuff. Thanks greatly to the group for sharing this b3shine (9079) - Indiana, USA - MAR 13, 2013
750 ml bottle to snifter (2012 vintage). Looks good; a cloudy orange with white lacing. Smells solid; sweet and doughy with nice Chardonnay notes. Tastes like it smells with some hoppiness. Average on the palate. Enjoyable. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 7, 2013
Cloudy gold pour, fluffy white head. Lots going on here. I get the chardonnay flavors, I get a nice yeasty, bready note. But there is something odd. Vegetal, herbal almost. This beer is almost fantastic, but almost bad at the same time.
