Irish Walker is brewed with six different malts and a blend of four classic hops. A long fermentation and cold aging makes Irish Walker a well rounded and complex Barley Wine. Irish Walker exhibits malty sweetness, fruity esters and malty balance. This ale will age well for years to come, or just enjoy now with good company. Cheers!

Thanks to GatorGuy92 for the share. Cheers, Matt! Pours a dark caramel/ copper color with an off-white head. Nose is plums, prunes, toffee, and raisins. Flavor is similar- big fruity malt. I get lots of prunes, dates, raisins, and fruit with some boozy bitterness on the back end. Interesting beer.

Im not normally a huge malt fan, but I really like this one. Pours a very dark amber color with a perfect moderate head. Has a smell reminiscent of a lot of stronger red wines. Flavor is heavily malty, yet retains a very nice balance.

Draft at olde hickory tap room. Pours coca cola brown with a thin khaki head which doesnt leave any lacing. A bit of malt and a lot of alcohol on the nose. Taste notes are a bit of sweetness and surprisingly gulpable for the style. Solid but not spectacular.

Tap at Mellow Mushroom, Greensboro. Pours clear dark mahogany with a small tanned head leaving lace. Aroma is sweet fruity raisins bready toasted malty. Flavor is very sweet and fruity in front, more fruits like apples, canned pears, fidges and prunes with medium bitterness sustaining to the end with sweets and fruits. Finishes bitter sweet. A bit too sweet and not so barley wine like as I had expected, but still nice.

Bomber. Slightly hazy maroon color with a pretty large white head. Strong aroma of vanilla, wood, and alcohol. It doesnt say so in the description, but it sure smells like its spent some time in a barrel. Anyway, the flavor is more of the same with some maple syrup and bourbon. Fairly long finish, but not overly hot for the strength. Excellent brew that warmed me right up.

22 oz. bottle from Bottle Revolution in Raleigh, NC (Blue Wax, 2012 Vintage). Dark brown cola-like pour with a frothy khaki head. Aroma of tangerine and a huge amount of caramel and brown sugar. Some noticeable whiskey on the nose as well. The whiskey and oak are certainly detected in the flavor as well as dark chocolate, vanilla, and just a touch of citrusy hops. Sherry-like mouthfeel. Sweeter than I normally like my barley wines but this manages to pull it off. An excellent beer.

2011 Bomber from Ross (bronze wax much like the color of the brew). Nose reminds me of a between hoppy Bigfoot and Abacus. Nose is toffee, raisins, and hints of citrus-floral hops. Murky copper brown with a medium tan head. Flavor is bitterness, toffee, and a slight sweet raisin note. Finishes lightly bitter.

on tap at ohb 7/12/11. hazy. dark cherry wood brown with a soft khaki head. lots of stuff in the aroma... raisins, brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla, malt powder, oranges and some grassiness. the flavor adds cherry notes to the aroma characteristics and a tannic drying on the finish. it taste like it has already been aged as there is very little in the hops department. it is slick and rich yet there is a little fruity acidity which keeps in in balance and quite enjoyable... and im not really a fan of barley wine! 8/4/8/4/16+
