Pour is a hazy straw with a large white head. Aroma is a bready malt with a slight vinegar. Flavor is again a mostly bready malt. Not much in the way of hops, this is a all malt pils. I also get some sourness after the swallow. This beer is on the verge or has become infected. TAR (2779) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - JUL 12, 2016
Bottled on May 11, 2016. Notably pale shade of yellow. Mellow but mostly clean honeycomb, flower nectar, tea and cracker dough aromas. Mild note of chalky grape candy. Stiff carbonation. Thin-bodied. Dryly malty and firm, with a curious wheatlike slickness trailed by a bite of lactic tartness. Hint of cracker dough is found beneath, but the malt shows very little depth and doesn’t contribute much in the way of texture. Face powder and buttery notes film the palate with an unwelcome residue. Shy hops lend very faint lemon shades and whispers of floweriness, but are understated to a fault. Husky popcorn pokes through as a result of the poorly extracted malt and plague things through the finish. Closes florally soft and very delicate, with a shallow crackery dryness lingering alongside husky malt and some chalkiness. Judging from the lactic acid and atypically pale color, I’m guessing they snuck some acidulated malt into this to get the PH down. Unfortunately, the intrusive lactic twang only hurts the aroma and flavor. A very simple rendition. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - AUG 23, 2015
Yellow pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor are classic pilsner. I get some grass and bready malt notes as well as a decent amount of bitterness. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. malvrich (341) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 6, 2015
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2016 Re-rating since the beer has only recently been packaged in 6 packs.
7 week old bottle into a chalice.
A: Very pale straw yellow color. Small head that fell quickly. Lazy bubbles rising. Very good clarity. Not much lace but looks good.
S: Crackers, white bread. Little hop presence but what’s there is grass/moss. Faint pilsner smell doesn’t promise much.
T: Much like the smell with sharp crackers upfront, then sour bread and finally light earthy hop notes. Malty but definitely not sweet.
M: Crisp, sharp, and dry. Light bodied, refreshing and very easy drinking.
O: Pleasantly surprised by this as it has low ratings. Not complex but well executed if a bit thin. MartinT (10037) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 10, 2014
My Bottom Line:
Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 5, 2014
Decent grain aromas and flavors dominate this underhopped Pils.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the clear light yellow.
-Hops are nearly a no show, sadly.
-This remains very drinkable because it is lean and clean.
-The malt flavors don’t point to German or Czech maltsters I know.
On tap at the Olde Hickory Station.
A lightly blonde pilsner with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet biscuit malt with grassy character, light Hops, OK. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with light mineral notes, grassy hops, OK. On tap at Olde Hickory Station. HourGlass13 (1009) - North Carolina, USA - NOV 22, 2014
Pours a light yellow color with a small bubbled head. Aroma is biscuit and crystal malt. Some grassy hops. The taste is balanced, doughy malt gives way to a hint of lemon citrus and a strong grassy hop. High carbonation makes it very bubbley. Some what bittery. Easy drinking and refreshing with a bit of bite. Elwood (3336) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - OCT 20, 2014
Serving: Bottle from Bottle Revolution. It pours a pale yellow with a fleeting white head. The nose is grassy with a bit of diacetyl. The flavor follows suit with a slight touch of malt. Slick mouthfeel. jcnielsen (3416) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 7, 2014
On tap at Olde Hickory. Pours a yellow color with white head. Grainy, earthy, corn flavors. Pretty light bodied and easy drinking. cubs (10693) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 6, 2014
On tap @ Olde Hickory. Pours a very light yellow appearance with a thin white head. Pretty blend, a touch sweet market, lemon aroma. A touch zippy. Somewhat sweet flavor. Moderate carbonation. Kind of bland but not offensive.
