3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beer Study. Cloudy opaque orange with a thin sticky white lace. Nose is grapefruit, sweet honeydew melon, light floral and herbal notes, some stickier resin, light onion/garlic, light toffee. Aroma was slightly offputting to me at first with a sharp resinous, faded hop, sweet buttery burst and sorta retains that character despite its complexity at it warms and open up. Oily, slick palate with lots of grapefruit and sweeter resinous orangey notes. A fair amount of the heat shows, along with a slightly spicy peppery, herbal note. A little thicker on the tongue than i prefer my iPa’s, single or double (or triple..). Maybe a little underattenuated as the sugars linger and weigh this beer down some. A little too much booze as well, but it definitely improved ( at least as far as my rating is concerned) throughout the hour I have been drinking this snifter. Tone down the alcohol and this could be really good.
Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours clear gold with a tiny white head and a faint citrus aroma. There is a huge pale malt flavor that is quite bitter with an astringent rubbing alcohol finish. bhensonb (15985) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 13, 2017
Bomber from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours gold with a slight, transient white head. Aroma of barley wine with cooked pale stone fruits. Med ++ body. Flavor is earthy, pale stone fruits. Not entirely dry, but very hoppy and pretty dang bitter. Even a little astringent. A bit off the regular DIPA path, but very nice and good to drink. Likin’ it. It pours yellow with a large off white head. There are aromas of caramel, perfume, floral elements, citrus, and orange. It has a bitter start with floral flavors, some perfume, a bit of caramel sweetness, and orange. It has a moderate feel with moderate carbonation with the floral elements carrying well into the finish. Overall, this is a bitter beer that features the floral and perfume elements with the caramel and other flavors in support roles. bytemesis (9516) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 26, 2016

Pours clear amber with a thick and frothy pale buff head. Hoppy, fruity aroma has notes of apple and pear plus a malty undertone and a hint of hay. Flavor is boldly hoppy, resiny and a little woody, fairly bitter, supported by notes of orange, apple and malt. Mouthfeel has typical body and fizz, but leaves a nice hoppy and fruity finish. Redeem one today. SudsMcDuff (8541) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - JUL 6, 2015

Bottle pour dark gold with moderate white head. Nose dank, woody, some pine. Taste quick pine freshness followed by moderate bitter up front, then more dank hop. Moderate bitter lasting through the finish. egg (438) - USA - JUN 25, 2015
Bottle on 6/25/15. Pours a slightly hazy light orange with a white head. Nose is creamy, little bit of citrus, peach, alcohol. Taste is resin and creamy, malty. Very creamy. Tastes bourbon barrel aged but I don’t think it is. Vanilla, some grapefruit rind, heat, alcohol. Nice and unexpected.

A big resiny DIPA that does the bourbon barrel aging thing the right way. The vanilla and oak from the barrel aging meld well with the super resiny hop flavors while the burn is kept to a minimum. Nice lightly sweet caramel malt backbone adds some balance. Pours a pretty light amber with a sticky head.
