Bottle. Dark brown pour with no head. Aroma is bourbon with vanilla and oak and underlying malt sweetness. Taste is bourbon and vanilla, light roast, some sweeter malt, and alcohol bitterness on the finish. Coating mouthfeel. Cannot tease out much of the base beer but the bourbon treatment is smooth and delicious. Nice beer. TimsRatings (421) - - JUL 29, 2013
From 22oz bottle.
Poured with little head, with a so-so brownish color. Sweetish aroma with strong hints of caramel. Taste is consistent for better or worse. I say that as I am not a great fan of beers that have a sweetness for the sake of simply being sweet, such as milk stouts an, well, Scottish ales...
I believe fans of Scottish ales will really appreciate this beer.

22oz bottle, shared by brew3crew. Oh man, awesome bourbon barrel aroma in the nose. Some chocolate, butterscotch. Light roast malt, little dark fruit. Hazy dark brown / red color, lots of particles in the body. Minimal off-white head, just a couple dots of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry in the finish. Nice coconut flavors, especially through the finish, light caramel, vanilla bourbon. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Lightly spicy. Just a hint of a bite. A delicious way to do a scottish, definitely a treat. Thanks for sharing this, Jason! XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - JUL 14, 2013
Bottle through trade, cola brown pour with minimal white head. Aroma of some boozy toffee and very feint vanilla. Taste is similar, quite a bit of heat and bubble finish. jtclockwork (17070) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 11, 2013
Bottle shared by jesterdeal at tasting at my place. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of heavy bourbon, oak, baked bread, cocoa and molasses. Medium body. A bit too "hot" for my liking.

Aroma of espresso, sardparilla, vanilla and slight soy. Pours brown and hazy with minimal film. Taste is nice with watered down coffee, vanilla bean, and molasses. A let down for sure. DesertDevil (699) - Arizona, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Bottle. Thanks for sharing, daknole. Pours a clear caramel. Lovely boozy aroma with a ton of caramel malt and some coconut. Smooth caramel, vanilla, toffee, and light wood. Tastes like it has been sitting in the cellar for much longer than its actual age. Medium, mellow body. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Medium brown colored pour, light tannish head. Flavors of sweet bourbon, but not overly barreled here. Vanilla, toffee, sweet oaky flavors, malty grains, honey cheerios. Nice brew. wheresyourball (572) - El Cajon, California, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Bottle shared by Austin - thanks. Pours brown with a medium lingering head. Nose is malt, caramel, alcohol. Taste follows. Good. bubbleflubber (2235) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - APR 20, 2013
Hickory Hops 2013 - Pours murky walnut with a wispy head that reduces. The nose is sweet and of coconut. Flavors are similar, with cherry, malt, coconut and toffee. The tropical finish is just full-bodied and of rum alcohol wonderfulness! Really nice!!
