COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

Trs bon.

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a near pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was a bourbon blast. Very smooth. Roast. Chocolate. Lots of vanilla.

Aroma is dark and toasty with a small bit of booze and malt. Looks deep black in the glass with a caramel colored ring head. Taste is initially sweet, then the carbonation carries the sweetness fully and malty. Finish isnt syrupy, but rather dry, leaving a nice feeling that the beer isnt too thick.

650ml bottle enjoyed @ home, thanks to Brian Parker! Pours black with a bubbly and creamy beige head. Aroma is bourbon and lots of it! Roasted malt, charcoal, vanilla, chocolate, wood, earthy and some raisins. Flavour is medium bitter and medum sweet. Full bodied, thick and chewy texture, soft carbonation. Finish is bourbon barrel and roasted.

Refrigerated brown bomber, bottled on November 17, 2015, poured into a snifter. Black with small/medium light brown head. Aroma is bourbon, medium/thick body, some carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is bourbon, roasted malt, soy sauce, oak, some alcohol, some ash, and some herbal hops for balance.

Unknowingly tried this the same day it was named the best beer in North Carolina on here. Pours a thick opaque black from the bomber with thin ring of bubbly tan brown head that leaves light lace and thick black slips down the glass. Aroma of big barrel notes, vanilla and chocolate sweetness, then a big roasted malt backbone. Taste follows, huge barrel notes, with molasses honey sweetness, dark chocolate, and a hint of dark fruits. Wow, really a great beer and worthy of the title.

The bourbon barrel is not a heavy influence on this beer as is with many other barrel aged imperial stouts. What I really liked about this one the most was they managed to pack the flavor in while still maintaining a lower abv, which increases drinkability for me. Although I love appropriately super high abv in many imperial stouts because of the added body and complexity, I do appreciate the fact that I dont have to get hammered to drink this one.
