Bottle @ home shared by Countbeer. Opaque pitch black color, small dark brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, honey, slightly roast. Taste malts, roasted malts lightly, bourbon, vanilla, bitter and slightly chocolate. Medium body, medium carbonation. Full flavoured, slightly alcohol, but very well done.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Simply a sensational barrel aged beer. Pours a beautiful ink black with thick chocolate head. Aromas are big sweet bourbon, molasses, honey, and vanilla. Beautifully sweet and balanced. Sweet bourbon, oak, honey, vanilla, and mild heat from the alcohol. Awesome stuff.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, from b3shine from a couple of trades ago (18 months maybe?), and saved for a special occasion: opened on my 44th birthday, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Viscous near black with an unhurried brown head of fine bubbles. Rich fudgey chocolate and sweet bourbon aroma, undertones of fresh ground coffee. Richly and intensely flavoured, fudge brownies, sweet bourbon, oaky vanilla, sponge toffee, soy. Full bodied but very drinkable, with no sign of the 8.5% ABV. Just fantastic! Thanks Beau!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
BOD 12/18/14. Pours almost pitch black. Normal head volume and retention for barrel aged, excellent lacing.
Nice rich nose of bourbon and heavy notes of oak and bitter dark chocolate over a light caramel coupled with plum.
Rich full body with a creamy texture that has an oily component as well. Light carbonation with just a hint of effervescence in the finish.
The flavor profile is borderline World Class. It is intense, extremely complex and one of the most balanced BA imperial stouts I’ve encountered. It’s only shortcoming, which is slight, is the lack of total alcohol coverage. It begins with a bourbon slap that quickly yields to a rich semi-sweet rush of chocolate. The middle is a light bitterness over a fading chocolate that allows the astringent alcohol flavor to manifest itself over a coffee note. As this fades into the finish, light plum notes appear over a sweet vanilla and bourbon background. The finish is slightly astringent and has a moderate alcohol heat.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Brusin Ales, 1/28/15
Aroma: The aroma is heavy bourbon, some wood, vanilla, chocolate, and a bit of coffee
Appearance: It pours a thick, dark brown-black color without much head, and with light, streaky lace
Flavor: The flavor of this one is bourbon barrel first and foremost, with the malty flavors (chocolate, coffee, etc.) coming through more subtly and later on, there’s a light bitterness on the close
Palate: This one has a thick, creamy mouthfeel, it is fairly heavy, had an average carbonation, and it has a boozyiness to it that makes it feel well over 8.5%, and a somewhat dry finish
This one is pretty good, I mean bourbon impy stouts are always good, but it just feels like an average example of a beer everyone makes. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but it has to be better than this to really stand out in this style in my opinion.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle from trade - cheers Blazay. Bottled 17th Dec 2014. Dark chocolate, vanilla and bourbon aroma. Light to medium carbonation. Thick and oily palate, very viscose. Burnt sugar and coffee cream initially, roasted hazelnuts, sweet service-station coffee, dark chocolate. Finishes sweet and sugary, with lots of cocoa. Very rich and a bit too sweet but still enjoyable.
