Draft. Nice sweet stout with heavy chocolate/cacao nib elements, not to thick and heavy. deyholla (11481) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a dark brown with a light brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a good amount of chocolate with sweet roasted malts and dark grains. Flavor has creamy chocolate and sweet grains with a bit of roasted malt in the finish. b3shine (8795) - Indiana, USA - AUG 9, 2012
Draft to mug at OP. Looks good; pitch black with beige lacing. Smells of chocolate and malt. Tastes like it smells with a little nastiness and an average mouthfeel. Good beer! Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 12, 2012
On tap at GTMW. Poured hazy, deep garnet with a creamy beige head. The aroma was on the sweet side, with lots of chocolate and vanilla.. some other black malt too.. not a lot of dimensions to it, but I wanted to drink it. The flavor was similar, with a higher vanilla-to-chocolate ratio.. toasty and sweet.. tasty. Light-medium bodied and a touch tangy on the palate.. simple and sufficient. MiBG Winter Fest 2010: Basically black with a creamy tan head. The aroma has notes of chocolate (go figure), roast, charred black malts, herbal hops and a hint of anise. The taste is sweet malt, chocolate with a bit of roast and nuts. Very light hop bitterness and spice. The mouth feel is oily and thin surprisingly. Met my expections, okay.

On tap at GTMW 2012. Dark brown with a thin brown crown. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a touch of coffee. Taste is mostly chocolate and roasted malt with mild vanilla and coffee beneath. LilBeerDoctor (3903) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 27, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a small light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, lactose, and roasted malt. Flavor of plenty of chocolate and lactose, vanilla, and some roasted malt. Quite tasty, especially so if you are a fan of lactose-enriched beers.

From notes. Enjoyed this at the MBG Winter Beer Fest. The pour is a lovely black color, though the consistency seems a little thin, and carries a dark khaki/light brown colored head and no lace. The aroma is quite disappointing. There is a light chocolate and vanilla offering with a little roasted malt, and a strong lactose sugar. I don’t get any coffee, though that’s what I was hoping for. The flavor is just as disappointing. There is a little more vanilla here, which I do like, but the rest of the flavors seem to fall off and meld together. Not the best of things. The mouth feel is decently thick, with a strange carbonation and a lingeringly roasted, light milk chocolate aftertaste. Could’ve been so much more tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - JUL 29, 2014
Tap: Black, opaque body with translucent brown edges, topped with a fuzzy layer of deep-khaki micro bubbles. Aroma has mild notes of semisweet chocolate, faint vanilla bean, a large profile of toasted nuts & roasted malt, & a moderate creamy-sweet lactose element. Taste is more dry than sweet up front with dry cocoa powder & mild coffee beans striking first. Plenty of deeply roasted malt & the strong, toasted nut profile comes through heavy mid-palate. Small river of lactose sweetness towards the finish, but overall still more seemingly roasty. Not a bad stout, but merely decent. I don’t get any more "chocolate" out of this than you’d get from the chocolate/dark malt in any typical stout.
