From notes. Enjoyed this at the MBG Winter Beer Fest. The pour is a lovely black color, though the consistency seems a little thin, and carries a dark khaki/light brown colored head and no lace. The aroma is quite disappointing. There is a light chocolate and vanilla offering with a little roasted malt, and a strong lactose sugar. I don’t get any coffee, though that’s what I was hoping for. The flavor is just as disappointing. There is a little more vanilla here, which I do like, but the rest of the flavors seem to fall off and meld together. Not the best of things. The mouth feel is decently thick, with a strange carbonation and a lingeringly roasted, light milk chocolate aftertaste. Draft. Nice sweet stout with heavy chocolate/cacao nib elements, not to thick and heavy. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - JUL 29, 2014
Tap: Black, opaque body with translucent brown edges, topped with a fuzzy layer of deep-khaki micro bubbles. Aroma has mild notes of semisweet chocolate, faint vanilla bean, a large profile of toasted nuts & roasted malt, & a moderate creamy-sweet lactose element. Taste is more dry than sweet up front with dry cocoa powder & mild coffee beans striking first. Plenty of deeply roasted malt & the strong, toasted nut profile comes through heavy mid-palate. Small river of lactose sweetness towards the finish, but overall still more seemingly roasty. Not a bad stout, but merely decent. I don’t get any more "chocolate" out of this than you’d get from the chocolate/dark malt in any typical stout. Mark_Eck (1948) - - JUL 24, 2014
Draft. Pours black. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is sweet and chocolatey. TheBear11D (365) - Michigan, USA - MAR 4, 2013
The beer pours black but is not too thick. Has an dark brown head that didn't last long or leave much lacing. The aroma is chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. The flavor is chocolate again and it is delicious. Overall there isn't much to the beer but it is still enjoyable.

On tap at GTMW. Poured hazy, deep garnet with a creamy beige head. The aroma was on the sweet side, with lots of chocolate and vanilla.. some other black malt too.. not a lot of dimensions to it, but I wanted to drink it. The flavor was similar, with a higher vanilla-to-chocolate ratio.. toasty and sweet.. tasty. Light-medium bodied and a touch tangy on the palate.. simple and sufficient. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 15, 2012
On tap at GTMW 2012. Dark brown with a thin brown crown. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a touch of coffee. Taste is mostly chocolate and roasted malt with mild vanilla and coffee beneath. dmschefke (575) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - SEP 5, 2012
Pours a dark brown to almost black with thin tan head. Aroma obvious of chocolate, coffee, caramel, and vanilla. Flavor is dominated by chocolate. I honestly would have thought that I wouldn’t like a beer like this, but it is a very chocolate dominant beer and really hit the spot. MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Hearty black pour with a small tan head. Milky chocolaty aroma some cereal notes as well now I"m really thinking count chocula... thin palate. Grahm crackers and stale cereal w/ some cheap chocolate notes though in the flavor.. Not good. deyholla (11600) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a dark brown with a light brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a good amount of chocolate with sweet roasted malts and dark grains. Flavor has creamy chocolate and sweet grains with a bit of roasted malt in the finish.
