Brewed in the grand tradition of the Vienna beers of Austria and the Marzenbiers of Munich, Olde Saratoga Premium Lager is a smooth, medium-bodied lager with a pale copper color and a rich aroma. German hops and imported Munich malt impart an intriguing balance between light, soft bitterness and a refreshing sweetness. Hand-crafted with an "old world" attention to detail, Olde Saratoga Premium Lager is a sure bet every time.

1/25/2014: Olde Saratoga Lager... More golden than amber in color; malty aroma that’s faintly like toffee; flavor has toasted bread, slight buttery toffee; soft and malty overall with a spicy finish; fruity and slightly dry in the middle; medium body ; creamy mouthfeel for a lager; not quite a full Maerzen, but still good. 12 fl. oz. bottle (5.5% ABV) shared by Brian. Thank you! Rating #95 for this beer.

On tap at the hotel bar. Pours a mostly clear orange brown amber with a medium sized white head. Soft toast, grain, a bit of malt on the nose. Medium bodied, soft malt, toast, not a lot else going on here. Crisp grain, malty, sweet into the finish.

Draught @ Albion. Rich golden color with small foamy beige head, bread aroma, medium carbonation, slightly sweet malt taste, abrupt finish. A fine specimen of a lager.

Bottle courtesy of Mr. Plumpy. Colour...medium amber with no head. Nose..very malty and dough like with notes of caramel. Palate...light CO2, spot on for a marzen with roasty malt, biscuit and spent grain. Basically decent stuff.

12 oz bottle one of the 12 monthly beers The lager poured a clear dark amber with small head. The aroma of light brown sugar and bready malts The lager has a nice medium body with soft carbonation. The beer is full of an earthiness that makes this a unique lager. The finish was sweet with caramel and mild bitterness.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a very deep amber color with a small head of a just off white color. The head has a good level of retention, fading over time to leave a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is big of a caramel aroma with some other lighter bready smells. Beyond these aromas comes some very light notes of an herbal and grassy hop smell. Taste – The taste begins with a bready and caramel flavor which create a strong base flavor for the brew. As the taste advances a little bit of brown sugar joins the taste which sweetens it even more. Toward the end a little bit of a grass and grain taste comes to the tongue balancing the sweet rather nicely and leaves a rather bready and moderately sweet flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker side for a lager with a carbonation level that is average. For the style it is OK, but a little thinner of a body and a little higher carbonation may have been slightly better for the style. Overall – A fairly decent lager, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Worth a try, but not worth going out of the way for it.

PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 2, 2015
Tallahassee, Fl - Beer Stop - 12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly sparkling medium copper with no head to speak of. Aroma has some light caramel and dates, some sweet potatoes. Flavor is decent and on the sweet side with some caramel notes, a touch of raisins, just a light hint of chocolate, a hint of olive oil. Clean, even mouthfeel. Had better Märzens.
