3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle. nice ruddy/rusty copper color, with a medium tan head that is moderately creamy. aroma is sweet, malty, and spicy - the demerera and brown sugar apparent. coriander and cinnamon also represent. The sweetnes plays with the hoppy aroma to make it juicy, like fresh grapefruit peels mashed with earthy pine needles. flavor threw me off at the start - I did not read the label and was expecting a traditional european yule ale. began with tangy-malt and went right to leafy hop bitterness. the spices are there in the middle, then they transition to toffee/caramel malt, demerera sugar, and back to hoppy bitterness. finish is fading hoppy bitterness. On a blind taste-test I would have guessed this as a limited release Lagunitas brew. very funny but accurately categorized as an American Strong Ale, aces for whoever did that!
Bottle dated 2005. The aroma is roasty, caramel, figs and dates. Pours a cloudy copper/brown with virtually no head. The taste is bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish bitter. Overall very good, probably sat on it too long. jesperhammer (4826) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 30, 2015
28-NOV-2015, bottle @home, thx. Erik:-)
Best Before 14/10-2014 - Don’t know what that Means in terms of release date.
Almost clear read. Dry, spiced, malty. Typical X-mas, perhaps more dry and perhaps originally more hopped? Touch of cardboard reveals that this is i somewhat too old.

It smells inviting hops and fruit. The foam is nice and steady, sinking a little after some time. Has Christmas fruity taste in the palate, in the form of raisin and prune, but here stops all compared to a Christmas ale. The bitterness of hops is high, if not very high for the type. In this case it is really good for this ale that would otherwise wither seem anonymous among the huge selection fortunately found among Christmas beer today. With its distinctive hop that is well balanced in the sweet fruit tones, it’s a Christmas ale well above average. Camons (12910) - Hasselager, DENMARK - MAR 8, 2015

650ml bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida. Rusty brown in colour with a long lasting beige head, excellent lacing. Aroma is quite hoppy, lots of citrus, caramel malts, some spice and oranges. Flavour is hoppy, spice becomes more pronounced as this warms, some light alcohol, caramel sweetness. Hoppy mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, hoppy, sweet and warming. Nice beer.
Moolesen (580) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 31, 2014
Bottle 50cl. Dark brown with almost no head. Metallic aroma and some malt, but mostly metallic. Average flavour with some sweetness and spices. Medium length. Cantabrian (1151) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 12, 2014
Very sweet, maple syrup and dried fruits aroma. Cloying. The appearance is not cool. Watery brown, looks like the product from a tummy bug. Flavour is malty, honeyish, with some boring Christmas cake, and a not particularly memorable combination of spices - but not unpleasant either. Palate is quite thin. In the end, this is not my kind of beer. I can’t say that it is bad, but seems to be far away from the excitement stirred by its Baltic Porter sister. TEJA (3141) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 28, 2014
Bottle from systembolaget Sweden. Shorts brown head. Clowdy red amber color. Spicy aroma in a fine balanced style. Caramell taste but low sweetness. A bit thinn body and metallic taste.
