An unconventional Christmas brew that departs from the tradition of Winter warmers being sweet and malty. Our Christmas brew is abundantly hopped with the four American C's: Cascade, Chinook, Columbus and Centennial. Cinnamon and coriander provides the Christmas spirit and adds to the merriness.
Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, crystal malt, wheat malt, soft brown sugar and Demerare cane sugar. Ølfabrikken Jule Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced on 'Fynske Øldage' 2005.

Draught @ Horsens Ølfestival 2006. Cloudy reddish brown color with avarage off-white head. Hoppy aroma with notes of caramel, coriander. Flavor moderate sweet, moderate to heavy bitter and spicy, long duration. Medium body, oily, soft carbonated.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2007 50/75 cL bottle. Pours unclear amber, white head, shortlasting. Smell is hops, clearly dominated by Cascade hops, sweetness and some malt. Taste is mainly hops with malt notes and caramel taste and sweetness. Spices are a bit more hidden. Slightly too hoppy for a christmas beer in my opinion 6-3-6-3-13=3.1

From cask at Ølbaren. Pours hazy orange with a little lacing light orange head. Slight orange and grapefruity aroma. Flavour is soft caramel malty and sweet with nice orange to grapefruity flavour on top. Finishes with a great bitterness and fruity flavours. Very soft.7-4-7-4-15=3.7

An unclear red-brown beer with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet hoppy and malty with light notes of caramel. While the flavor is sweet malty with a light alcohol presence, and even less spice presence, leading to a dry woody end. I’d like the spices more pronounced in my Christmas beer.

Draft at Fynske Øldage 2005. Hazy orange coloured with a small off white head. Aroma of pine needles with notes of fruits, citrus and hops. Flavour of citrus, hops and pine needles. Long dry hoppy finish.

Cask at Ølbaren. Dark brown in colour. Thick off-white head. Spicy, hoppy aroma. Flavor is malty and hints of spicies and it leaves you with a very hoppy aftertaste. Not what i call a christmas beer but a very good beer.

oh6gdx (26488) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 8, 2008
Bottled. Deep coppery/ambery colour with mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is fruity hops with some spices and mild alcoholic notes. Flavour is also strong fruity and flowery hops along with some spices and mildly alcoholic notes. Mild notes of some sticky sweetness to once it gets warm. Not the most usual type of Xmas beer though...

omhper (25119) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - DEC 20, 2008
Bottled. Hazy nut brown, brief head. Toasty nose with estery ripe fruits and glue. Medium bodied with clean rounded mouthfeel. Somewhat fruity with herbal spices, lychee and burnt gingersnaps. Finishes with medium bitterness.

Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 11, 2005
(On tap) Unclear, dark amber with a creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Spicy, lightly perfumy aroma that reveals the coriander. Sweetish and malty with distinct notes of oranges. And of course it wouldn’t be a Ølfabrikken-brew if it wasn’t strongly hopped. 281005

Bottle. Murky brown color, scant head. Aroma of spiced hot chocolate and coffee. Taste is similar, with cinnamon and nutmeg. Decent.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2007 2007-11-01, Cask Conditioned at Ølbaren, Copenagen, 8-5-9-5-17=44
Cloudy red amber color; persistent thin head. The aroma of the cask version mixes the caramel and hops to a new toffee component, fudge. The natural temperature allows to appreciate the true flavor, good malt-fudge-toffeen sweet but not too much, with fruity and resiny hops. Excellent!

2007-11-01, draught at Lord Nelson, Copenhagen, 7-4-8-5-16=40
Cloudy red amber color; thin creamy head. Good aroma, with malt, hops and bitter oranges. Good body strength, very good malt flavor, sweet, with caramel, balanced in an elegant way by a quite powerful and well aromatic hopping, bringing in very good fruits (ripe grapefruit over all) and some subtle resins. The final too is balanced, quite strong and long. Very good.

2006-01-30, bottle, 7-5-8-4-16=40
Cloudy dark amber color; compact head. Pleasant malt and hop aroma, even more evident in the taste; the mouthfeel is thick, almost oily; the maltiness is strong, with a lot of caramel and good hopping, both for the quantity and the quality. Very good.
