2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A 10 year old beer! Oxidation has started on this one, some roasty flavors, coffee. TorbenJensen (1576) - Valby, DENMARK - OCT 14, 2015
Beautiful rough foam. Clear malt aroma with hints of ripe fruit. The flavor of the slightly tart fruit with notes of cherry. Furthermore, prune and caramel taste. Very Belgium in its appearance / taste, and perhaps not so much Christmas ale! However, it is a successful and tasty ale. hotstuff (5274) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 21, 2014
Rated on 6-30-2010 (Corked bottle) This beer pours a large very fizzy beige head that mostly diminishes, semi-opaque orange brown body, lively, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is malty, cherries, spicy, and alcohol. The taste is caramel malt, alcohol and spicy. The palate has a warming sensation and this beer is medium bodied. This is a sipping beer and is somewhat heavy tasting. It is worth trying and a beer I would drink again. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - DEC 31, 2013

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, a little oxidized and candy sugar. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish with warming alcohol. Soft and smooth. 270213 Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2012
Swingtop bottle brought back from BarleyWine in Copenhagen. The lady in the shop thought this was about seven years old. It pours out a dark amber and manages to form a head for a few seconds. The aroma is vinous, spirit-like, fruity like port or brandy. Lots of raisins, dates, brown sugar, toffee and peat. Maybe a hint of cardboard creeping through as well. Most of those elements crop up in the taste, but it’s only once I get down to the dregs that sour cherries come out. Quite a slick mouthfeel on this like a vintage barley wine. Has held up nicely! Bottle. Small head. Dark brown. Tobacco roasted malty notes. Caramalty mouthfell. Plenty of sweetness in good balance with slight tart finish. A brew my father in law loves.
