COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Has also been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

English: A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar.

On draught @ Københavnske Øldage 2006. jet black beer with a fat everlasting head that laced perfectly. Roasty aromas of cocoa and charcoal Creamy smooth mouthfeel. Coffee flavours and a hoppy finish.

Just superb porter. Lovely chocolate malt, some nutty flavour. Long and lingering dry, roasted aftertaste with dark creamy coffe flavour.

15.5 oz bottle. Pours a pitch black with a very slight mahogany head. The aroma is of coffee, malt, chocolate, caramel, etc. The flavor is VERY sweet and creamy of roasted coffee and vanilla. Smooth with mild carbonation. Very good.

Can from the supermarket. Extremely good porter - rich, chocolatey, strong coffee notes, oily, dark tan head. Among the best of its kind - and the best thing about it is the price. Ølfabrikken beers are amongst the cheapest in Denmark when they are on special, which they seemingly always are.

Nice! Wondeful aroma with loads of dark berries and a slightly hoppy nose. Thick texture, roasted but in contrast to many other beers this dark, it has no astringency or harshness in the finish. Very complex and full of flavour, but easy to drink at the same time,

Finally get to try this. Opaque black pour with a little bit of brown foam. Aroma is very much chocolate, coffee, malts, oats, dark fruits. I love the flavor, it is very roasted coffee, quality dark chocolate, slight alcohol burn. Very rich and full palate. I’m pretty impressed with this.

Bottle, recommended from Knightly. Poured like chocolate syrup; quick diminishing tan cap. Smelled like chocolate mousse and a hint of sweet fine tobacco. For such a robust flavor, it was incredibly smooth with a bit syrupy mouthfeel. What a gem of a porter!

Poured a very black brew with a rich head, smell was wonderfully thick. Roasty and hearty all the way down. A little too bitter for my taste, though.

Aroma: Caramel, chocolate, coffee, liquorice and roasty malt. Also some hops is hiding in there and is most easily recognized just after pouring. Appearance: Dark brown/black color with a beautiful frothy, tanned head, which I’d wish lasted just a bit longer to enjoy :-) Taste: medium to heavy sweetness, lightly bitter, and a little salty. I don’t think it’s going too sweet in spite of it’s weighty sweetness. Palate: medium body, something in-between slick and thick. Average carbonation and a short bitter but long, salty and chocolate-like finish. Nice! A delicate beer to enjoy on it’s own or with some dessert like chocolate or ice cream.

Pours jet black with a small tan head. Leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is nut, oat, chocolate and coffee. Taste is that of dark chocolate, dark fruit (plum? currant?), coffee and sweet cream. Very rich and enjoyable!
