UPDATED: NOV 29, 2008 (10/11/08) Bottle drank in my hostel room in Chicago. Opaque black with medium bubbly light-brown head that falls rather quick. Aroma of heavily roasted malt, a bit chocolate, light smokiness, some ground coffee notes and a bit of alcohol. Sweet roasty flavor with light herbal notes, some fruitiness, a bit of nutty notes, some coffee, acidic malt hints and some alcohol. Finishes dry. Good but not as good as I was hoping. Draught at Plan B. Black, brown head. This is a fantastic porter, not the first time i get it, and not the last (i hope).... i love it. Roasted malts, prunes, sweet, chokolade, hop, very complex and full bodies. Lovely. Tmoney99 (15043) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 16, 2007
Bottle from River’s Bend. Pours black color with a large frothy brown head that was lasting with excellent lacing. Heavy toasted dark chocolate, coffee and woody malt aroma. Medium to full body with a thick smooth texture. Heavy roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout porter.

Deep dark porter with a thick dark moka head. A nice funky aroma of chocolate, cold coffee, and cast iron post. In mouth, a bitter herbal chocolate, very intense, with light peated notes, cold coffee. Rich and enticing. A superb porter. Bieropholie import BB Dec. 2006. Tasted with Probstk, May 26 2007. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 23, 2006
(50cl bottle, thanks Jens) Brown head atop a black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cocoa, coffee, roast, light earthy. Taste is medium sweet, bittersweet chocolate/cocoa. Slight medicinal quality in the chocolate bitterness. Medium body. Drake (14109) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 13, 2009
500 mL bottle courtesy of jdubFL. Thanks Justin! 1800th rating. Hurrah. Pours nearly pitch black with a dark brown, medium head. Good head retention and decent lacing. Aroma is beautiful roasted malts with chocolate, coffee and a bit of smokiness. Vanilla, toffee and leather as well. Taste is roasted malts, coffee and smoke. Light bitterness in the finish. Full bodied and quite creamy. Damn good beer. crossovert (14038) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2011
It pours a dense balck with a nice greyish tan head that sticks for a ncie bit and then receded with not much lacing.
the smell is pretty awesome. Just a thick rich, perfect scent for the Baltic porter. It has tons of chocolate, a hint of roastiness, and a hint of intriguing cinnamon.
The flavor isn’t as sweet as I was expecting, it is still pretty sweet, but it has a nice roastiness/smokiness that balances the typical sweetness of the style a bit. The main flavors are chocolate and dark fruit. There is almost a woodiness to it as well. The flavor is intense, but I think it could come together just a bit more coherently.
It is a nice beer, the flavor could be better, but overall it is enjoyable
