COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Brewed by Ølfabrikken at Het Anker, Mechelen, Belgium.

The heart of this beer is an aromatic yeast from the Ardennes region in Belgium fermented at very high temperature (>30 deg. C). This provides the beer with a range of interesting flavor and aroma components and leaves the beer bone dry as a true Saison should be. Even though the beer gets its inspiration from the Belgian Saison brews, it has its very own Danish character from the use of Chamomile flowers and freshly picked thyme giving the beer a discrete tea-like aroma and a nice fullness. High carbonation and light body makes this brew uniquely refreshing. Ølfabrikken Saison Kamille is of course unfiltered, unpasteurized and refermented in the bottle like all of our beers. Only available in 75 cl corked bottles.

75 cl bottle batch 260. Pours with a huge white creamy head. Golden yellow colour. Aroma is fruity, wheat and sweet with notes ofhops. Taste is soft, very pleasant wheat like notes - I love the presence of chamomile and thyme. Perfectly balanced and overall a very good brew of its kind. Dry finish.

Bottled. An unclear orange beer with a lazing orange-beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with spicy notes of camomille. The flavor is sweet malty again with spicy notes of camomille, leading to a dry spicy finish.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour, big creamy head. Aroma is some yeast, earth and dry fruits. Flavour is the same with a lot of hops and herbal notes. Very enjoyable Saison.

Bottled. Cloudy golden, rich airy head. Light citric herbal aroma. Sweet with solid, rounded maltiness. A bit fruity with whispers of citrus and herbs. Rather gentle flavourwise. Interesting idea, well made, but not really in possession of that little extra that you so often get from this brewer.

Cloudy yellow brown beer. Light dry palate. Mellow malt - tastes a little aged. Mild floral sweetness and then sweet fruit coming through at the finish along with some aniseed. Overdry and a slightly odd but a nice experiment.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Very unclear, greyish hazy with a dense, creamy, off-white head leaving a neat lacework. Fresh, spicy aroma. Medium body, lightly sweetish malty with some fruit. Very fruity and fresh citric notes. The finish is dry. Lovely indeed. 090507

Koelschtrinker (21371) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 8, 2011
