3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a brillant reddish pink. Aroma is cherry candy. Flavor is very sweet. Loads of cherry, very sweet without ant tartness to cut through this. Light honey but it really is like drinking sweetened cherry juice. Overall not bad a few ounces at a time.
Abv on this bottle says 10% abv. Aromas artificial cherry and sweet honey (like the kind in cough syrup). The flavor overall is not horrible or neccesarily bad, just artificial and kinda has a watery/jellow like feel. The flavor of the honey mostly dominates the artificial cherry so its mostly like a real mead, just one dimensional. There is a slight corn/maize aftertaste. With a pricetag of about 6 buck a bottle, no one should expect to much from a mead. You get what you pay for when it comes to mead. Still, these are ok for large gatherings or groups of people for the price. The sweetness is medium to strong. For a mead this is low class, but as a drink in and of itself, its pretty decent. magsinva (1433) - Virginia, USA - OCT 8, 2013
Bottle from TWM Sterling - pours clear, pale gold, with listerine and cherries on the nose. Big points off for the listerine. Overall, meh. Chudwick (3369) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - SEP 21, 2013
75cl bottle - pours extra pale gold. nose is honey with cherry. sweet and a little tart. easy to drink though it tastes like cherry cough syrup with a honey cough drop. jmohno (1662) - Iowa, USA - AUG 20, 2013
Pour is a pinkish rose/blush wine color.
Sweet candy cherry aroma, alittle mint like almost.
Taste is cherry, sweet, with some citrus tart. Burns a little with heat. Strong cherry flavor and a bit too sweet. Like the origional more than this. patrick767 (4204) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 16, 2012
bottle - Pours clear light gold and has a big cherry aroma with some honey in the background. The flavor is a very sweet marriage of black cherries and honey that definitely tends more toward the fruit. Like the other Oliver fruit honey wines, it would be nice if they would tone down the syrupy sweetness a bit. The finish is fruity and sweet too. Not bad. Bottle purchased at Liquor Barn in Lexington. Clear pink pour with no head and very minimal legs. Aroma of cherry cough syrup and honey. Cherry Kool-aid flavor with some sweet honey before a cherry cough syrup finish. jandd1983 (4606) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Bottle. It poured a reddish color with no head. The aroma was notes of dark cherries, alcohol, and some honey. The flavor was sweet, with a light to moderate acid finish. The taste was a decent amount of fruit character that is very syrupy. This was my first mead, so was not sure what to expect. obguthr (6667) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Black cherry nose. Clear magenta, still. Black cherry flavor, medium body. Delicious, but simple and is more sweet wine-like than mead-like heemer77 (5360) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - DEC 31, 2009
Deep artificial red body, it looks and smells like grenadine syrup, only less viscuos. Perfectly still, it doesn’t show legs on the glass when swirled. The nose also has some cherry Jolly Ranchers. The taste is very sweet young mead with a fair amount of the fake cherry taste thrown on top. The beginning is the cherry candy, but then it goes south. As you swallow, you get light paper notes along with a medicinal finish. There is also some persistent band aid. I want to like this, but the off flavors are a little much. Reminiscent of Night Train, this is best drank fast and cold.
