On cask at Pizza Paradiso (6/20/15). Light toasted malt, molasses, chocolate. Dark brown-black with creamy lacing tan head. Medium-light body with cask carbonation. Nice chocolate flavor throughout, like an iced mocha au lait. Smooth nutty-chocolate sweet finish and cocoa after. gueuze (953) - - JUN 5, 2015
Farbe sehr dunkel.
Thought it was a decent stout and the mix of choc and vanilla was well done but it was bordering on too bitter and the alcohol amplified it. GenDV138 (7284) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - FEB 5, 2014
Draft at The Ale House Columbia, poured into a 5 ounce mini-snifter. Pours a dark brownish black with tan head. Aromas of roast, vanilla, milk chocolate. Tastes of big roast, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla. Medium body with a nice creamy mouthfeel, semi-dry finish. Pretty solid, probably one of my favorites from Oliver Ales.

A really great beer. On tap at Alehouse Columbia. Pours dark brown with and amber tint and a thick tan head. Roasted malt, cocoa, and vanilla aroma. Roasted malt smokiness, vanilla, toffee and cocoa flavors and some woodiness. Really smooth. The warmer this got the more the vanilla came out. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Tap. Pours opaque black with average, fizzy tan head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is roasted and caramel malts, vanilla, dark coffee, chocolate, plums, and woody notes. Flavor is smooth, roast malt forward with supporting dark fruit esters, vanilla, and light earthy hops; smoothness transitions to an espresso flavor leaving a dry, ashy finish. Medium/full body and low carbonation. hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Draft… Pours clear and dark with flashes of crimson and a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The bouquet is nutty, caramely, and chocolaty with a generous measure of vanilla. Full-bodied and creamy with lazy carbonation. The flavor leans a touch toward the charred, bitter side of balance - roasted malt sweetness is narrowly surpassed by black malt and hop bitterness. There are gentle nuances of cocoa and vanilla as well. The lengthy finish is burnt, bitter and a touch boozy. Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 13, 2012
I had a 4oz sample of this beer at the 2012 Frederick Beer Festival. The beer had a dark brown/black color with a big creamy dark tan head with good retention and lacing and average cling. Its aroma featured toasty malt, caramel, some chocolate and toffee tones and a earthy component. The beer was sweet and malty with a touch of chocolate and very subtle bitter component. The beer was wet and smooth, a bit creamy and thinnish, and had low carbonation. evanlarkin (307) - Northfield, Minnesota, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Head like soap, clear black. Cocoa and vanilla present but not significant. Smooth and woody. Decent.
