From Tap at Pratt Street. This year, again, bourbon barrel Monkey is my favorite Oliver’s/Pratt Street brew. Aroma is bourbon, malt, fruit. Pour is deep amber/brown with thin white head. Taste is malt and bourbon heavy with some smoky hops and a clean finish. Very good mouthfeel, though could fare better if it were a little silkier. Tap. Pours deep, nutty brown with thin, frothy off-white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is bourbon, figs, caramel malt, nuts, floral hops, and faint spice. Flavor is heavy malt with supporting dark fruit esters and light hops; bourbon notes throughout with a sweet finish. Full body, medium carbonation, and high warmth. Tap at Max?s. Pours clear tawny with a medium, fizzy off-white head, short retention with good lacing. Aroma is dates, plums, and figs, light bourbon and oak , floral and perfume hops with huge caramel malt aromatics and vanilla notes. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops, medium bitterness, lightly tart dark fruity esters, and moderate bourbon and vanilla with a sweet finish. Full body, high warmth and medium carbonation.
