Tap. Pours mostly clear tawny brown with just a trace of fizzy off-white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is heavy grapes and red wine, oak, floral hops, bready malts, and light spice. Flavor is dry, bready malts forward with supporting dark fruit esters and floral hops and some oak with red wine undertones, but much more subtle than the nose; dry finish. Cask at Max’s Taphouse. Pours clear amber to brown with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is red wine and fresh oak with pine and resin hops, caramel and cookie malt, plums and figs. Flavor is malt forward with light hops and bitterness, vinous grape notes, oak, dark fruity esters and a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
