330ml bottle. Slightly hazy dark brown colour. Thin line of beige froth on top. Slight sweetness, chocolate, hints of some spices, cocoa in the aroma. Caramelly, slightly chocolaty beginning. Bit watery. Notes of caramel. Rather watery, malty finish. Slightly sour, bready, bit watery aftertaste. Light bodied, rather low carbonated, bit watery brew. Has some aspects which remind kvass. Drinkable.

Beer in subscription box. Great and unusual aroma - bags of rye, cereal and sweetness. It pretty much tastes like a sandwich, but in a really good way. Comfort food in a bottle! Love it.

33cl bottle from Beer52.com. A peaty brown pour with a tight beige head; sweet aroma with some caramel and rye; quite lively in the mouth with a sweet rye bread taste and a spicy, malty body; then a light herbal bitterness, and a bready finish. Certainly what you’d expect liquidised dark rye bread, spread with treacle, to taste like.

Bottle shared at Borefts Beer Festival 7th edition day 1 25/09/2016. Many thanks. Aroma is spicy rye bread, strawberry, grainy, jammy. A reddy amber coloured pour. Flavour is composed of earthy rye bread, tangy, little Sweet and caramel, wheat, woody. Palate is semi sweet, highish carbonation. Decent.

Not a huge fan of this one. Strong rye aromas and flavor reminding me of rye whiskey. OK with the distinctive approach of the specialty grain here but not very well done. 0 head from the bottle to glass pour. Zero. Very light carbonation. Almost creamy. Almost like a stout.

33cl bottle shared at home. Hazy brown with a medium off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Herbal hoppiness with subtle sweet tones. Pine, laurel, licorice and malts. Very bad combination of tastes, bleh!

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy nutty brown with a very frothy and lively beige head. Very rustic and spicy nose, must be solid proportions of rye used. Medium body, again a very rustic flavor, spicy, rich, very different but pleasant - somewhat minerally. Some late, solid hops. Interesting. 031016

Couple of bottles in Tallinn poured a murky amber with with cloudy, white head. Nose is solid, grainy, bready, mild orange, some soap. Flavor follows, more grain and bread than caramel, orange, soap, light straw. Finishes dry, crisp.

Dark brown and small but stable head. Aroma starts out between a Belgian dark ale and an Irish ale perhaps. Sweet, somewhat dark fruity fermentation and from there steady it’s more herbal and lots of licorice malts character. Full flavoured, very nice. Great brew, actually different too. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

My Bottom Line:
This earthy and bitter rye beer delves into leafy, fall-like rusticity for a compelling quencher.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the cloudy coppery brown.
-Carbonation is too low to make this flavor profile shine.
-Drinkability and character coexist nicely in this one though.
-Rye malt flavors aren’t as well developed as in their Rukki Kuningas.
