Bottle share at the Syb Pig. Snifter. Black our with tan head. Decent lacing. Aroma of chocolate, fruit, roasted malts and hint of vanilla. Taste was sweet fruits, chocolate, malts and vanilla and hint of coffee. Medium body, light carb. Hard to explain but it didn’t really do it for me. Seemed a little one note.
Bottle:   Deep brown, nearly black, big foamy deep khaki head, nice lacing.   Soft funky bourbon aroma on the nose.   A touch of roasted malts, sweet, but also a little acrid and a little metallic.   Seems fairly airy as well.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Weird finish, some bourbon notes, but with an acrid and metallic roasted malt finish.   Astringent finish.   Aftertaste leaves something to be desired.   Have had some fantastic Olvalde beers, but this one is way off... thanks Bob! Yikes! This made it worse. I thought it was worth seeing if the cask pulled things together, but for me things went from two mismatched flavors to chaos. Still have to say that this is way better that drinking a mass produced beer, my expectations have just become quite high. Will try one more from this great local brewer. mnmike (1086) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 17, 2013
Pretty awesome pour from a bottle. Sediment abounds. dark and strong with wood all around TheHOFF43 (2052) - Robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA - JUN 7, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with a bit of beige head. Nice bourbon on the nose, spicy sweetness comes through a bit but the bourbon and wood balance it well.

Bottle share at KBBS day, dark pour with a nice tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla and slight tartness. Taste was dark fruit and tartness coming through, possible infection. arminjewell (9584) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAY 28, 2013
Pour out of 750 mL bottle, very thin but dark pour with huge tan head, took a while to pour the bottle. Aroma brought indescript notes of spice, fruit, some molasses, hints of dark fruit, very slight bourbon and oak, but finishes with a hint of spruce. Taste is odd, slight mix of mineral, dark fruits, chocolate, slight oak, bourbon, gets much better as it warms, but still a bit thin. Atom (2418) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Swing top fires off white a pop and pours a dark brown/black with a huge tan head. Aroma is very sweet sugary vanilla, oak, and slight Bourbon. Taste is very sweet dark fruits, light molasses, chocolate, some oak, and a touch of Bourbon on the finish. Maybe a touch too sweet, but very drinkable but and enjoyable. Black pour with a slight tan head. Sweet nose with some bourbon undertones. Nice mouthfeel, on the thin side, sweet malt flavor is balanced by some bourbon and wooden notes. Nice. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - APR 19, 2013
(bottle) Pours a black color with just a slight hint of ruby red when held up to the light and a towering tan head that takes a long time to recede. Aroma is pretty standard porter fare, with some roasted malt and chocolate, but I can also detect a hint of the spruce as well. The bourbon really shows up once the head dies down, and coupled with the spruce it is reminiscent of spiced applesauce. I would guess this is Buffalo Trace. Slight bit of menthol. Flavor is slightly tangy, with plenty of apple skin, faint bourbon, chocolate, bbq sauce, and spruce. Weird, weird combo. Mouthfeel is thin and carbonation is dialed down. Overall this is not even close to the price of @ $13.99. I’d rather mix together a shot of gin and bourbon then drink this again.
