Bottle... Pours black with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aromatic standouts are dust and pears. Full-bodied with adequate carbonation. The flavor is sweet and fruity with a medium-sized element of pear. There’s a nutty component as well. Not bad, but not my thing. Aged well, but the esters are annoying to me. Tasted during RBWG post grand hotel tasting shit-show. 750ml bottle flip top 2013 bottle. Wow, big spruce, very big spruce. Maple syrup. Weird combo. Molasses. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, light sour. Light bitter. Some soy sauce, molasses. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Bottle: Dark brown, nearly black, burnt brown sugar highlights, moderate to large foamy beige head, nice lacing. Bright nose of spruce, ginger, nutmeg, and associated mountain shrubbiness. Has a strong herbal presense, shrubs, low lying fauna, and autumn like spices. This one is much better than I anticipated. This one is a wonder of spices, a little earthy, mountain brush like, yet has a sweet spicy aspect. Nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon seem to dominate from start to finish. Perhaps a sliver of clove too. Moderate to full body and mouthfeel. Not all that bubbley, but feels a little chewy. This one is very unique. I cannot think of anything like this one. This really reminds me of the cross between autumn into winter in such a wonderful way. Spicy, clean, with the eagerness for more after each sip. A superb spiced ale, one that is very well balanced, and one that others can learn a lot from. Totally taken back by this one. Its almost too vibrant in its spiciness. This would be a great Thanksgiving beer and/or one to enjoy on Christmas as it share aspects of both holidays, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and a strong spruce/pine like Christmas tree. Very flavorful, one I wont forget any time soon. Nice work Olvalde! Those with taste out in Seattle will really enjoy this. Thanks to Skyview for this great treat!   Bright, powerful, and worthy of more praise.   Simply delicious! zebra (2247) - Illinois, USA - OCT 6, 2013
