3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is an inviting combination of roasted coffee & chocolate. It pours a thick black with virtually no head. A definite coffee taste with a subtle caramel hints. The palate does leave a slight alcoholic residue. Overall very impressive!
Pours a dark black with a soft tan head. Light roast aroma. Very smooth, light roasty flavor. A great, flavorful light stout.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, and herbal; with lighter notes of molasses, coffee, nuttiness, smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, and herbal; with lighter notes of molasses, coffee, nuttiness, smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of darkl/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/hop bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very nice dry stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of darkl/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, easy, and quite refreshing to drink. Great malt complexity with balancing hop character. A very enjoyable offering. JPDIPSO (6296) - Wauwatosa, USA - JUN 24, 2016
Under the name O’Malleys Prototype Stout. Bomber. Very dark brown with a hint of purple when held to the light. Small bubbled tan head. Toasted and roasted malt abound, but just a hint of green earthy malt beneath. Light sweetness, with mild roasted malt and hints of molasses and mocha. A dark chocolate to roasted malt bitterness in the finish and linger. Just a stout. 1/11

Can. Thanks gregwilsonstl. Deep brown pour with a small head. Nose isn’t particularly appealing. Harsh roasted coffee bean. Curdled milk. Flavor is sort of harsh. Acidic roast. Thin. Some chocolate. Red fruit skin. Strong carb. Light body. Needs work. kennybates (12) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - OCT 5, 2015
I didn’t care for this stout at all... and I wanted to. Being here in Columbia, Missouri really made me anxious to try a six pack of this brew and I was anxious to be able to say that my favorite stout was made right here in the Ozarks. It isn’t horrible, but I won’t be going back for another six pack.

Drank from can. Very thick tan head. Effervescent. Very dark brown, almost black. Kinda weird tasting. Extract taste. Subtle root beer. Kinda tastes like something between root beer and cola. That isn’t a compliment. I poured out 75% of this.....just wasn’t feeling it. AnokaBrewer (223) - Anoka, Minnesota, USA - JUL 22, 2015

Can. Black with one finger head. Roasty stout with a good amount of coffee. Just a tad thin, but pretty decent. jrodooo5 (1748) - DOVER, Delaware, USA - DEC 24, 2014
Good black pour w/ a tan head that leaves a ring of lacing. The aroma is of nice roasted notes that really draw you in. The taste is only slightly roasty, somewhat dry, but more watery than anything. I was hoping for more from the flavor! deyholla (12582) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 5, 2014
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2016 Bottle. Pours black with a creamy brow head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice combination of roasted malts, sweet dark grains and a hint of dryness. Flavor is much more dry with a good amount of roasted malts but still has just a touch of sweetness from the dark grains.
