Tap. Light brown with small head. Caramel and toffee with a toasty bitter finish. Hard to get excited about this. nearbeer (5561) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 21, 2012
Draft at CLT Airport. Clear copper with a lasting film of cream. Not much aroma; maybe some light grain and toast. Delicate flavors of toasted nut, dry grass, and hints of cocoa and caramel apple. Medium body is smooth, dry and easy drinking. emacgee (4704) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - DEC 27, 2013
Pours a sharp and clean reddish burnt brown with two fingers of tight sandy tan head. Nose is earthy with cracker-ish malt notes and a light grassy sweetness. Flavor shows bready malt with a light herbal/earthy balance and slightly metallic bitterness. Medium light body and pretty refreshing. Pours a dark brown with no head. Aroma of lager yeast, caramel, dates and raisins. Taste follows, very light for a dunkel. Muted.

On tap at Olde Mecklenburg. Pours a brown color with white head. Bread, malty, nutty, slight roasty flavors. Pretty nice dunkel. freekyp (2389) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 6, 2011
A finely crafted but ultimately boring dunkel. Pours a light brown with a fleeting head. Some lacing. Aroma shows some caramel, noble hops and a hint of cocoa. Flavor is much the same. Even keeled and balanced with a bit of a rise in bitterness at the finish. A match for most lunch and dinner fare. GTAEgeek (2338) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAY 19, 2013
22 oz. bottle. Dark brown color with a medium, bubbly, tan head that dissipates quickly to nothing. Light coffee aroma, with some brown sugar, cinnamon, and some rye. Very sweet and malty, with some very light earthy, hop bitterness in the finish. Medium to heavy body, chalky, and sticky. Overall, this is a nicely balanced, simple, but tasty beer. tia (2228) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - MAR 25, 2012
Bottle. Caramel color with dissipating off-white head. Smells like hay, lemon, and biscuit. Tastes sweet with a bit of roastiness. Fairly dry finish. ross (2146) - weddington, North Carolina, USA - MAY 5, 2014
On tap at Maxwell’s. Orange colored pour with a white head. Malty, sweet caramel nose; taste is similar but a bit more refreshing. Pretty good beer, and I am not really a fan of dunkels. Would drink this again, not too bad.
