3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Moosehead Bar in Charlotte. Poured a hazy copper color with a thick off-white head that lingered well and left good lacing. Nose was a pleasant mix of malty sweet caramel and hoppy floral, with some bread and earth undertones. Mouthfeel was full, somewhat tingly and slightly chewy, and the taste then accentuated the malty caramel and earth of the nose.
Rounded off to a long pleasant finish, making this a most fine Oktoberfest beer.
Draft at Ont Central. Crystal clear golden color white head with solid lacing. Light biscuit aroma. Taste is lager and toasted biscuit. Nice. geologyguy (1604) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - SEP 22, 2016
Malty smell... quite prominent...taste is also all malt...no hops...but still a touch bitter...sort of one dimentional...roasted malt taste...Meh Bailz316 (256) - North Carolina, USA - SEP 17, 2016

Approximately 5 oz. pour, on tap at the brewery’s taproom in Charlotte, North Carolina. Consumed on 9-21-15. Pours a light copper with beige/cream head. Good lacing. Attractive appearance. Buttery, creamy, fruity aroma. The butter aspect probably derives from diacetyl, but I don’t find diacetyl offputting. Low in flavor. Sweet. Just a bit of hops dryness in the finish. Otherwise, remarkably low in hoppiness. Red apple taste. Light body for the style. Smooth in the palate. Overall, pleasant enough but poorly made and definitely not my kind of beer. Sample in a flight at the OMB biergarten. Dark copper color, with a thin, off-white head. Nose is orange peel, caramel, gin, and a little rye. Sweet and malty, with a significant bitterness that is uncharacteristic for the style. Light to medium body, chalky, and a little astringent. This is a fair attempt at an Maerzen, but is overhopped.

Aroma: The nose is light caramel and bready malts, some grainy notes, and mild hops
Appearance: This one appears amber in color, some golden notes, with an off-white head on top
Flavor: The taste is mid-sweet, not overly sweet, bread/grains with a light balancing hop bitter
Palate: The body is light-medium, fairly easy drinking, with a mid-plus carbonation
I had a few of these on draft over the "season," with pretty much all of those being in the airport. It always left me the same impression, which is that it is not bad for OMB, and it is probably better than their flagship copper that you find everywhere, but it isn’t anything exciting. (Note: I have the copper rated as a 3.3, but that is from 2012, and I haven’t felt the same about it when I’ve had it recently. It probably needs a re-rate, and I’d probably have it more in the high 2s to 3 range if I rated it today.)
A golden Marzen with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, sweet nutty caramel malt with light German grassy hops. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with light nutty note, pleasant, if a bit ordinary. On tap at brewery.
