$4 bomber from Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville. Pours light bright, ever-so-slightly hazy gold with a decent white head and a bit of lacing. Nose is pilsner hops, grassy and a bit grainy/corny. Taste adds a bit of weird plastic but mostly a solid light beer.
bottled (purchased in Charlotte NC) - super light yellow in color. Wheat sweet aroma. Great slightly sweet malt flavor. A very good pilsner. Luvystypotables (2047) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - JUL 11, 2017
Aroma of grains and wet hay, poured a light gold color with a thin white head. A sweet taste of corn and grains with a lightly bitter grass finish. nimbleprop (8723) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - APR 17, 2017

Draft at the brewpub: Clear blonde. Healthy white head shows good retention. Remarkably unclean nose of DMS, metal shavings, vinegar, decaying apples and cauliflower. Loose carbonation is quite fuzzy on the tongue. Vinegary and tart, initially, with notes of applesauce worsened by an abrasive huskiness. No hoppy brightness to speak of due to the overbearing huskiness which evolves into popcorn and burnt sawdust. Tartness persists as the structure steadily worsens, with wet papery malt leading the way. Apple jelly and DMS muddles everything in its path. Foully vegetal and wet finish of canned green beans and wet paper, with notes of popcorn lingering. Well, somehow they managed to create something even more putrid than their embarrassing helles. This is profoundly industrial in character and absolutely replete with glaring defects. I’m truly mystified as to why this brewery bothers with the extra cost and intense labor of decocting their lagers when they struggle mightily with so many other things. There is a huge DMS problem at this brewery and evidently the brewers are fans of this character, as I found it in all four beers I sampled, or they simply aren’t detecting it. Wow, just wow.

I found this to be quite the enjoyable Pilsner, which seems to be underappreciated based on prior reviews. Enjoyed a fresh bottle of this at home, this beer pours a nice golden straw color with nice white frothy foam and lacing. Aroma is a rich grainy malt flavor with a slight straw/grassy hoppiness. The taste is likewise a full-flavored pale malt and grain with some slight noble hops in the finish. Medium bodied but very quaffable. Pleasant sweet malty aftertaste. Exceedingly fresh, a distinctly malt-centric Pilsner, with just enough hops to stay true to the style. Well done. islay (2958) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 27, 2015
Approximately 5 oz. pour, on tap at the brewery’s taproom in Charlotte, North Carolina. Consumed on 9-21-15. Listed as "Capt Jack." Pours a bright, clear gold with beige head. Looks good. Quite effervescent. Buttery smell, probably due to diacetyl, but I’m okay with that. Lightly buttery taste (buttered popcorn) but pleasant. Soft in the palate. Medium body; heavy for a pilsner. Easy to drink. Overall, more likable than good but not bad. rolfc81 (145) - - SEP 6, 2015
Decent pilsner but not my favorite. Had on tap with Deep and Coley at Valhalla Pub in CLT. lobosaintori (89) - - JUN 19, 2015
