(Bottle 75 cl) Beautiful mahogany with a tint of red. Creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Sophisticated, vinous aroma with distinct alcohol. The body is solid and full with plenty of roasted malt. Sweet, fruity notes - of dried fruit like raisins in particular. Also very warming alcohol in the finish. 291205 Leighton (23090) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 16, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2010 Draft and bottle, many times at many places. Delicious. Pours a reddish-brown color with a huge, thick beige head. Sweet, rich, fruity flavor with hints of caramel and raisin. Similar flavor profile. Overall outstanding.
Update: I had some of a 2004 bottle at BCTC 2010. This beer ages well and the character calms down a bit. Extra points for the longevity. Rasmus40 (22682) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 31, 2013
Bottle @ Malmö Brygghus Hamnmästaren. Hazy dark reddish brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit and yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. 240713 Koelschtrinker (22488) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUL 4, 2017
Spritzig hefiger, weich fruchtiger Antrunk. Angenehm würzig, recht trocken. Erhöhte Karbonisierung, hefig bleibend, vollmundig. 10/11/11/12/11/11 Theydon_Bois (21794) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle, from BOE, split at JF’s, 20/04/13.
Hazed dark amber with a thin beige head.
Nose is toffee, dark malts, brown sugar, light booze.
Taste comprises toffee, yeast notes, dark malts, cocoa, dates, brown sugar, a little booze.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, touch of bitterness in the finish allied to booze.
Decent enough dubbel, whilst the booze was evident it was never all encompassing.

Hazy brown-amber color. Nice malt aroma. Good body, well structured, quite sweet in the front and correctly balanced later; caramel and liquorice.

750mL bottle, pours dark reddish brown with a big beige head that takes a while to settle. Nose is candied sugar, caramel malt and light dried fruits. Flavour of caramel, candied sugar and lots of yeast. Highly carbonated. Very nice - it’s like a toned version of Three Philosophers. saxo (20024) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - MAY 11, 2008
Bottle. Nice head with excellent duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are rich with fruits, malt and spices. harrisoni (19695) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JUN 28, 2013
Bottle from The Bottle Shop Canterbury. Dark brown colour, lasting beige head. Like the Rare Vos, this has a metallic twang to the peppery hop finish. Less estery than the Vos, this is more like a strong brown beer. Hides the alcohol well. Some dubbel characteristics after a time. OK. Oakes (19547) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 23, 2000
Fruity, firm dubbel, reminiscent of bananas dipped in chocolate, with a dry, yeasty finish.
