Bottle from Total Wine. in Boca. Home pour in a snifter. Pours a deep black cherry stained wood with an excited two finger head. More fizzy than pillow. Aroma is caramel, coriander, orange zest, Belgian yeasts, and leather. The taste is similar with the spices and orange zest. Heavy carb...just a little much in my opinion. Very sprite carbonation. Finish is warm and yeasty. commonshawn (1297) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 18, 2014
Tap at heyday in small goblet. Dark red with smooth white head. Alcohol and dark fruit in nose. Heavy dark fruit and alcohol sweetness. Nice smooth finish with a bit of spice. Excellent. high_on_hops (809) - Burlingame, California, USA - DEC 16, 2014
Pours a ruddy, dark amber with a tan head and lacing. It has a complex spice aroma with corainder, cardamon, and orange. The flavor is malt and spices up front with a orange and spice sweet finish over a medium body. Shag (3028) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - DEC 14, 2014
A mutky brown with a beige head. Aroma contains some wheat, orange, and spices. The flavor is malty with some chocolate, candy oranges, and spices. The aftertaste is a bit sour and malty. There is a very different taste to this beer I cant put my finger on. Is it grains of paradise? Overall good. fakebeersnob (325) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - DEC 11, 2014
Smells sweat, yeast, hints of fruit, and spice. Pours a muddied orange/brown. This starts out like many winter ales I have had, but the weird spicing is ruining it for me. Has some dark fruit flavors, a bit of citrus, with spice overpowering it at the end. Not a favorite from what I consider a decent brewery.

Wonderful spices and sweet, clearly Belgian character on the nose comes from a lovely red-brown brew.
Lots of your standard Trappist stylings on the palate that seem to war a bit with the sweetness, delivering a full mouthfeel, high effervescence and a lingering spice on the tongue. Finishes a bit boozy and slightly out of balance but not in the least bit unpleasant.
No session brew, this spicy delight wants nothing to stand up to the coldest of winter chills.

brown with a heavy haze and light caramel head an inch thick but fades fizzling quickly to nothing. Aroma is spice (nutmeg, cardamom, cloves) , dates, toffee, raisin, dried cherry, cranberry, pomegranate. Body is medium-heavy, oily-syrupy, with high carbonation and strong burn to balance it. Flavor is lots of spice, heavier on the licorice, nutmeg, coriander. Light raisin bread. Spices are most apparent on the exhale, which is also a bit hot. Bit of hop bitterness, which, combined with the spices, has a slightly medicinal note to it, a bit of wormwood even. This is growing on me. It would be an interesting challenge to brew a beer in which spice pervaded to this extent, yet I think the appeal is limited to the average drinker. Anyway, neato beer, well brewed (except for head retention) still, it’s not my favorite from Ommegang. revolution2718 (379) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 4, 2014
Pours reddish mahogany with nice thick head. Nose is like a dubbel, ommegang yeast, dark fruits, bready, also holiday spices, candied orange peel. Taste matches nose, yeasty, dark fruits, lots of dark malts, a bit bready, spices. Extremely full bodied, abv hidden well. Overall a solid winter beer. Very flavorful, the ton of malt doesn't bother me like it usually would, balanced well with their spicy yeast. bpar73 (1171) - Bellaire, Michigan, USA - DEC 3, 2014
