This had a lot of flavors. Belgian yeast was there and fruity flavors. I even detected some licorice. The alcohol was present up front. The aroma was plum-like with alcohol. Average palate and a smooth. No head or lacing. It had a dark iced tea color. A nice beer for the end of the day when the weather turns cooler.

Bottle (12 oz) bought at Winooski Beverage Warehouse. Clear deep copper with a medium off-white head, good retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma is of toasted malts, caramel, nice peppery Belgian yeast, raisins and red fruits. Taste is moderately sweet with caramel, toasted malts, nice alcohol warmth, raisins, mild to moderate spiciness, red fruits and mild herbalness. Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. A tiny bit sirupy mouthfeel. Warming finish from both spices and alcohol. Ommegang rarely disappoint and this beer makes no exception as it’s really well-executed and complex with a nice malth depth and a quite flavorful profile. 750ml corked bottle. Belgian yeast aroma with notes of dark fruit, orange peel, coriander and a little bit of booze. Pours reddish-caramel colored with a thin tan head with decent retention and excellent lacing. Starts with sweet dark fruit and orange peel citrus flavors. Finishes quite smooth with Belgian yeast spiciness as well as coriander, other spices and some booziness as the very end. Couleur : orangée-cuivrée.
Apparence : claire.
Levures fruitées (petits fruits, notes d’agrumes) et épicées (poivre, coriandre), léger de céréales sucrées, traces de gomme balloune.
Entrée de bouche : Goût de levures moyennement fruitées (cerises, notes de raisins rouges) et assez épicées (coriandre, poivre).
Un léger de céréales est présent avec un léger goût de pain, d’alcool, de houblon herbeux et quelques traces de sucre brun.
En bouche :
Corps : moyen.
Effervescence : plutôt élevée.
Texture : légèrement huileuse.
Finale : moyenne, composée d’une légère amertume d’alcool, de houblon herbeux et d’épices.
This was poured into a Corsendonk chalice.
The appearance was a hazy burnt/ruddy brown color with a quickly dissipating slim finger-ed white foamy head. Thin speckled lacing slides into the beer at a decent pace.
The smell starts off with sweet Belgian sugars, end up sliding into some Belgian spices. Light citrus and some cocoa powder.
The taste was basically the same with a sweet ruddy breadiness to it. Sweet Belgian sugars bounce into the aftertaste and gives a quick dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fair sessionable to sipping feel about it. Carbonation feels good, somewhat light. Smoothness creates a slight stickiness on my tongue.

This beer is exactly what I feel a lot of other beers try to be when they mix distinct flavors. This is equally spicy and sweet, but the flavors aren’t in competition with each other and it makes for a fantastic beer. This is probably the best winter ale I’ve ever had that actively distinguishes itself from all other winter beers without going overboard and making some strange, gimmicky beer whose recipe will need to be altered every year. Pour on tap at Busters on 28th, hazy golden orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big coriander, clove, lemon zest, some slight spicy, peppery notes into a bit of cinnamon, some caramel, and bready notes. Taste was dominated by spice, lemon, and lots of pepper, with nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, some slight fruit, finishing with caramel, toffee, and more spice.
