A nice Belgian IPA that errs more to the side of a Belgian White than an IPA. Some spice notes with wheat tastes typical of a white, a little hoppy but they're more of an afterthought. Overall a solid beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Peekskill Brewery. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Musky and dusty citrus hops on the nose. Gritty malt backbone with a touch of hops. Bright citrus, lots of lovely musk, touches of mango and tropical fruit. Lingering mango into soft grapefruit. More dusty musk and touches of earth. Lovely beer.

Location: Draft at 4th Ave Pub, 3/16/13

Aroma: The aroma of this beer has Belgian yeast, spice, some floral notes, lemon, and a bit of grass
Appearance: It pours into the glass a golden color with a white head and and some white lace
Flavor: This one has a spicy and yeasty Belgian flavor to it with a light-mid hop bitterness
Palate: The body of this one is medium, it has a pretty solid feel, and a lightly dry finish on the mouth
Overall Impression: This one is a Belgian IPA that is much heavier on the Belgian then it is on the IPA. The Belgian yeast strain is really very nice though, and the mild IPAness of it enhances the beer, even if it isn’t particularly noticeable when compared to the Belgianness. Personally, I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I’d certainly say it is worth trying, but it should be kept in perspective, because I’d say you are getting a slightly hoppy Belgian Single then an IPA.

Draft at Blue Monk. Straw colored pour. Floral and candi sugar aroma. Lots of Ubblegum. Herbal, floral, grassy straw bitterness. Sweet finish. Minor soapiness. Good flavor but IPA?? Nice beer

Keg at the Blind Tiger, NYC. Pours clear, bright gold with a fine, white foam head. Lovely though somewhat mild aroma of tangy lemon, mellow yeast. Light to medium sweet flavor with decent bitterness, some grass and pine, melon, grapefruit. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Clean, faintly tangy and resinous finish, a little dryness, lemon, grapefruit, light yeast and funk. Very drinkable though not very deep.

Tap at Gingerman. Fairly mundane pale ale, light body, slightly chewy malt, a bit of bitter character. A whole lot of nothing going on. The kind of beer that made me stop rating beer because it’s so nothing.

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Grainy, biscuity, lighter floral and earthy notes, and some light grassy notes. Less than ideal bitterness. Good, not great.

BrewBoxer (2667) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 1, 2013
Draft. Tan grassy and not overly hoppy. Almost like a rye or specialty grain. Interesting. Not memorable, but pretty good considering its the first iPa from ommegang I've seen or had ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
