3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 750ml bottle into a stemmed glass.
The color is a dark black with a finger of tan head and some nice lacing left on the glass.
The smell is dark malts here, there, and everywhere. The nose does open up once your past the dominant malty aroma and lets out some of that cocoa aroma I had been looking for. A touch of candy sugar sweetens the nose up a bit and gets me motivated to take the first taste.
The taste has a nice roast malt flavor that has a hint of dark chocolate and a slight coffee bean flavor. There is a Belgian yeast character that is reminiscent of double that is mixed with a stout.
The feel of this beer is medium bodied but behaves like a bigger beer. It will not hurt you but it try’s to scare you that it might be too much handle. It does have a reasonable drink-ability but does tend to challenge you at times. Overall, a great flavorful beer with great character.
Rich dark appearance with frothy head. Aroma: fresh ground cocoa, and coffee beans. Deceptively bitter on the palate and not as chocolatey as it seems. very hoppy and malty. jsporrer (1040) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 8, 2017
Pours a deep dark brown to black with a big tan foamy head. Strong aroma of cocoa and sweet malts. Smooth creamy body with a medium texture. Nice cocoa taste with a hint of coffee flavor and roasted malts. Smooth finish and a decent aftertaste. Enjoyable but not that special. jsnicholas (637) - Woodinville, Washington, USA - SEP 14, 2016
Bottle (750ml): Black with 1 finger tan head. Medium carbonation typical of Belgian stout. Slight taste of bitter sweet chocolate. Nice stout. BlindGuardianco (90) - - JUL 30, 2016
I liked this one, not as sweet as I expected but solid and drinkable, will buy again oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 8, 2016
Pours a nice deep dark brown(almost black) color. Aromas of chocolate, smoke, and some sweetness. Flavor is dark chocolate, a touch of berry, and smokey. Creamy with a dry finish and a bittersweet aftertaste.

Draft at Bru Craft. Black pour with thick khaki foam. Large splashes of lace. Dark milk cocoa. Burnt roasted nuts. Sarsaparilla. Prune juice. Vanilla beans. Blackberries. Medium-full body. Wish it was creamier. N3lson1 (1005) - Long Valley, New Jersey, USA - APR 26, 2016
Drank from a pint glass, poured from a 750mL bottle. Pours a beautiful, dark, velvety black, with plenty of thick frothy head, an absolute beautiful looking brew! Strong aromas of chocolate, with a slight note of Belgian yeast. Nice chocolaty smoothness without being overpowering, just a wonderful, amazing brew! johnnymusky (983) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 14, 2016
Bottle i purchased and shared with brian john and dusty...i would have liked more chocolate in taste but still a solid beer...easy drinker. demannu (451) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 9, 2016
Nose is herbal with notes of chocolate malts. Feel dark muddy brown pour, rests black in glass with a thick foamy tan head. Good lacing. Palate was kinda weak; thinner side of medium body but definitely smooth and silky. The name had me expecting a bolder richer chocolate flavor, still nice flavor though. While not exactly what i had hoped for it’s s good beer. revolution2718 (379) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2016
Black with tan head. Nose is toasty, it's vaguely smoky. Taste is not good. It tastes like an ash tray, an odd bitterness. I don't get any chocolate, it's very harsh. Terrible.
