Duvel Rustica Golden Ale is our long-anticipated collaboration with Duvel. It’s our first Belgian-style Golden Ale, a elegant ale noted for using simple ingredients to create complex flavors and aromas. We worked closely with Duvel on the recipe and processes, yet added our own signature notes. This Duvel collaboration created a fine ale, one with all the depth and breadth of Duvel’s classic Belgian Golden Ale, along with rustic notes, including fruity esters from our yeast. In keeping with our rustic farmstead roots, Rustica pours a golden hue, the aroma and flavor mixes maltiness and citrus from hops while the yeast produces notable fruitiness. The body is lean and rounded, while the finish offers dry warmth & firm hop bitterness.

Bottle I took to Dadtoberfest. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Soft grain, a touch of yeast, sweet grain and toast. Musk, medium bodied, toast, grain, a good bit of musk. A touch of earthy hops. Soft bitterness into the finish, a touch of musk, grain, toast. Tasty enough, but for the price I’d rather have three times as much Duvel.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good; light gold with white head. Smells spicy and doughy with sweet notes. Tastes like it smells with a hint of mild cherry menthol. Average on the palate. Not bad.

Draft. Clear golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of sweet honey, earthy yeast and a light spicy scent. Flavor is sugary malt, peppery spicy with lightly tart yeast and no alcohol presence. Medium body with active carbonation. Very nice beer, the sweetness is balanced out nicely with the yeast character and the alcohol is very well hidden.

This one poured a cloudy lighter yellow color with a white head. Almost looked like a wit. Aroma was lots of spices, corander and chamomille, yeast and lemons. Flavor was much the same, almost lemon limey, with strong yeast notes and light rustic taste. Decent.

spice, grass, floral and yeasty nose. Good solid beer, slight astringency on the finish, but is fantastic with food.

Serving: Draft at Fire Works Leesburg. It pours a hazy light gold with a small white head. Spicy Belgian yeast nose with light bubble gum notes. The flavor leans towards the sweet side with lots of bubble gum. Light florals and a bit of grain emerge as it warms. Light to medium body with soft carbonation. Decent.

On tap 4 oz. pour at Meridian Pint in Columbia Heights, Washington, DC. Clear, bright straw-yellow off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of fruit (apple, lemon, pear, citrus and melon), grain, funk, yeast, coriander, pepper, cloves and allspice. Taste of fruit, yeast, grain, funk, coriander, pepper, cloves and allspice. Medium/light body and medium/low carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap: pour is cloudy light gold with a modest fine bubbled white head in.this tulip. Average to poor retention and light lacing is present here. The nose reveals sweet bread, cloves.and.spices, and a hint of.cinnamon. a fruitiness is present.in pear.and peach by my estimation. I think the nose is the highlight for me, because.this one.comes.across a little messy. Bitter, fruity, and sweet initially. There’s a hint of vinousness here, with more sweet bread and while there’s a Belgian side here I’m not impressed at all

Bottle. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sparkling , yeast and citrus aroma. Medium body with a tingly texture and lively carbonation. Medium citrus sweet flavor with a medium citrus sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.
