Pours maize with a white head into a Duvel tulip. The aroma is insanely good -- the epitome of what a golden farmhouse ale should offer. Grassy fields that take you there, cut hay drying in the sun, a bit of dust, leather, pepper, a mild hint of the bubblegum and banana to come in the flavor. I am really impressed. This aroma reminds me not only why I like rustic golden ales but also why I love beer in general. It makes me start to think about giving a rare 10 for aroma.
The bubblegum comes up forwardly in the flavor, a bit stronger than I like, and the yeast contributes the expected spiciness. While this is a relatively dry beer, the esters contribute a certain sweetness and the alcohol is not undetectable. A chocolate-covered salt caramel pairing is money, pushing the sweetness into the background and drawing out the noble hops that otherwise are more in the aroma than flavor. I think I need to revisit the whole Ommegang range; my bet is that I came to it too early in my beer journey and didn’t appreciate it for what it was.
Near clear golden pour with ample offwhite head. Nose and flavor is floral and malty and bready and sweet and mellow and smooth. Palate is velvety and chewy. Don’t get any of the hop bitterness as advertised, but it’s very good. JulienHuxley (5809) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 23, 2012
On tap at Churchkey. Clear gold pour with frothy white head. Aroma of grain, noble hops and alcohol are all pretty much on par with Duvel, but you can tell that the yeast is different, much "dirtier " smelling than normal. Taste is slightly boozy, the yeast contributes an interesting spiciness to it all. Palate is on the mark, very dry with high carbonation. Interesting experiment. drfabulous (7948) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - NOV 15, 2012
750 bottle. Slightly spicy. Dry. The yeast flavor is nice with some apple and pear. I don’t get the negatie reviews. egajdzis (6589) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 9, 2012
Lightly hazy color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of noble hops, grass, pils malt, some citrus, and light spices. Taste of honey, pils malt, grass, spices and a dry finish with light alcohol.

The beer pours a cloudy light amber with a white head. The aroma has a nice malt base but some hops find their way in. The flavor has the malt and sugar, spice and hops. The finish is dry and long lasting. jmm635 (1009) - Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 28, 2013
Pours hazy pale yellow with a large bubbly white head. Aroma of light malt, very earthy, and lots of yeast. Sweet fruity flavor, spicy yeast, light hop bitterness. Crisp, clean finish. boozedude (2228) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - JAN 31, 2013

Wow! This beer was the surprise of the year so far! Outstanding! Aroma was big and juicy. Yeast, Juicy Fruit bubblegum and and lemon. Pour was a nice light gold with a thin white film for a head. Taste was delicious and refreshing. Heavy yeast bite coupled with a very tart (near sour) flavor. Earth, barnyard floor and light fruits all mix together for a delicious flavor. As it warmed, lemon and hay came out. Almost saison-like. Mild carbonation for the style, which was kind of disappointing but still an awesome beer. Cloudy orangey gold, with a big white head. Smells clean, soapy (in a good way), and floral. Perhpas a tad grassy, too. Nice mix of grassy hops and subtle sweet malts. Dry, woody finish. I get some honey and other sweet flavors as it warms..Nice beer...
