draft at Blue Monk, Buffalo. Lighter golden color, wisp of a white head. Sweet bubblegum nose, light herbalness, cereal notes, floral hops. Medium mouthfeel. Decent but not spectacular zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 13, 2012
bottle shared by Jay at Dadtoberfest. Spicy and barnyard notes on the nose. Yeasty funk and caramel malts on the palate. Susty and mellow. Tasty. Also, love the new labels. As Jay points out though, what is the point of making a pricier duvel clone? blipp (9268) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 26, 2012
Bottle at Dadtoberfest. Pours gold with a white head. Yeasty, light fruity, floral and herbal hops, hint of peppery spice, lighter grains, and just a touch of funkier yeasty notes. Nice enough. mikesaum (711) - Newark, Ohio, USA - OCT 27, 2012
Sample at beverage source, pours golden with fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy belgian yeast, very floral hops. Taste is much the same, very floral and bitter hops, belgian spice, dry finish, haven’t had duvel so I can’t rally compare, but this isn’t bad. On tap. Mildly hazy yellow color. Nice thin white head, leaves impressive lace. Nice citrus lemon aroma, very interesting spice and yeast characteristics... Rustic is a good way to put it. Kind of floral, maybe some clove. Very nice smooth texture, lighter carbonation, medium to big body. Clean, dry finish. Good long spicy / yeasty aftertaste. Bitter taste. Light bite. This is tasty.

Draft at craft ale house. Pours fairly clear straw yellow with a finger of white head. The aroma has a nice mix of citrus and belgian yeast. The taste is dry, lemon citrus with a drier finish. There is a hop presence in the background. Interesting. TheBeerGod (6224) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - DEC 13, 2012
Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Hazy gold pour with a tall, foamy white head. Strong yeast and fruit notes in the aroma along with straw, toasted grains, sweet malt and flowers. Taste is sweet malt, candied fruit, grains, straw, strong yeast, flowers, and sponge cake. Body is medium with a strong, lively carbonation. Finishes with more sweet malt notes, candied fruit, light bread, soft grains, yeast straw and cake notes. Tasty! puboflyons (3433) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 1, 2013
From the caged, corked 750 ml. bottle with smudged stamped dates on the bottle’s neck that read 08/30/12 - 08/30/14. The pour is a hazy golden yellow with a short-lived fizzy white head. The aroma is of apple, pear, grapefruit, yeast, and herbal qualities. The body is smooth and bold with good consistency. The taste begins with mellow sweetness and then erupts into a tart bitter ending that finishes dry. Nephilium (1818) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - JAN 20, 2013
Starts with an earthy aroma, pours a clear light yellow with a towering white head. The flavor is light, with earthy notes, more bitterness then I expected, and a touch of light fruit. Very light on the palate, with a lingering earthy bitterness. This is an interesting one, not sure I’ll pick it up regularly, but it’s a decent change of pace. tmoreau (4365) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - FEB 10, 2013
On tap and snifter served at Lunar Brewing Co, showing a hazed, golden hue, silky, white foam to the head, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The aroma was Belgian yeast, esters & citrus as apple & lemon, light spice, a little tartness, and light sweetness. The flavor added a moderate, earthy bitterness & astringency, light to medium body, a bit of wateriness to the texture, but a decent effervescence that carried bitterness & dryness through the flavor, and to a crisp finale. Totally hidden alcohol presence. Not an altogether potent Belgian Golden Strong Ale, but tasty nonetheless.
