COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Collaboration with HBO for the Game of Thrones series.

Blonde ale with malty sweetness and a touch of fruity spiciness, Noble Hops aromas and notes of citrus. Suitable to serve to kings, or pretenders to the iron throne.

Pour slowly so as to not disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet.

I loved this beer! I received it as a gift and was blown away. Oomegang is one of my new favorite breweries ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The very pale Lannister blond body, and the rapidly rising carbonation bubbles. which formed a large, three finger thick head, made this beer look very similar to Duvel. The smell was spicy, fruity, sweet.,and slightly funky, which were all indicators of a yeast and wheat dominated beer. Each sip presented classic Belgian strong ale flavors of lemon, pear, white pepper, clove, banana, and a finish that was quite barnyard funky. Light, airy body, and an easy drinking disposition were quite pleasing. One of the most authentic tasting Belgian strong pale ale I have seen originating outside the mother country. Well done in returning this beer to the market, as I missed it during the initial release. The beer came in a two pack box of bombers bundled with a Brewery Ommegang and Game of Thrones branded glass. The exquisite artwork of the box provided an additional treat to a fan of the show like me. Winter is coming, so I might have to pick up a few of these to keep me warm.

A delicious golden unfiltered blonde ale. Worthy of representing the show and its name. Has a great flavor that has a good after taste that sits in your mouth. The citrus flavor isn’t over powering but balances the beer perfectly. Carbonated perfectly. Wish it wasn’t a limited beer and that it is always around.

Pours hazy orange with a large white head. Smells peppery and fruity. Taste is malty sweet with peppery notes and subtle citrus. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and lively mouth-carbonation, Ommegang Game of Thrones #1 - Iron Throne Ale finishes with a soft citrus twinge.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2016 One of the finest I’ve tasted and it was the beer that started my trek toward drinking craft brews. A full, rich, brew with a surprisingly light touch on the palate considering the amount of sediment left on the bottom after being capped. I hope they bring it back as an anniversary offering.

Bottle from Red Wine and Brew. Bright clear yellow gold with small head and lace. Floral aroma with hints of marshmallow honey and sourdough bread. Mild sweet apricot fruitiness with clean dry floral finish. Beautiful soft palate. Excellent. (I’m not much of a Game of Thrones Fan but I could drink this every day.)

This actually surprised me. I hadn’t read anything about this beer or known anybody who tried it and had it on a whim. Just the right amount of sweetness to this one, perfect carbonation. Very yeasty and some orange flavor. Will be picking up some more.

Pours fantastic. Light straw yellow, turbid, hazy and with a fluffy white head of foam that never fell off completely. Left plenty of soft lace all over the glass. Champagne bubbles too, this is visual perfection. Nose is superb. Belgian yeast, tart lemon, floral and earthy. A touch of banana, bubblegum, clove, those grains of paradise and underneath- good bread and soft malt sweetness. So perfectly light. It’s buoyant on the palate. All components have a brightness of character that is full but never maxed out. Taste is smooth, bubblegum and sweet bread. Malt is no stranger in this drink. It’s flavorful but delicate. Leaves just dry with a hint of hop oil bitter to make your mouth water and a lingering sweetness.

This is a visually stunning ale that is soft and silky and drinks like it was made to be drunk. It’s Belgian spice character that doesn’t overwhelm with the sheer number of things, it’s hops that aren’t blown all out of proportion & sweet malt at it’s full and subtle best. Ommegang treats you to some finesse with this one.
