RBESG pt 19. Craft Clerkenwell. Grandish Tasting. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, airy and dry. Light dry malts. Tangy fruits battle dry floralness. Dry finish. Okay. Nice tangy fruits but a bit dry.
Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 Sunday tasting at Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell. Pours clear amber-gold with a white cream head. Yeast-forward, with rich lightly toasted bread, candi sugar. Faint plastic and bitter grain husk. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with further yeast and grain husk. So so. I’ve had much better from Ommegang.

Dark amber color, hazy, with compact head. This red ale has a lean and clean caramel profile, rather dry, it could as well be a Bock; the bitterness is moderate; there could be a light smoke touch in the aroma. It has a not of sweetness in the final, a spicy touch, and mild fruity esters.
Balanced, elegant, well made although not the most complex beer.
Bottle at RBESG ’14, day 4 not so grand tasting at Craft Clerko, 10/08/14 from the Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa.
Hazed chestnut brown with a decently appointed beige covering.
Nose is Belgian yeast esters, spice, candied fruit peel, tangy dark fruit rinds.
Taste comprises much the same, grassy, straw, yeast esters, tangy dark fruits, light rye bread.
Medium + body, spritzy carbonation a touch OTT for me, candied fruit peels resonate in the close.
Ok Belgian stylee that has to be assigned as ’speciality pissing grain’ just cos it has bastard rye in it ! rlgk (18851) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 21, 2014
RBESG 2014, Sunday tasting at Craft Clerkenwell, London. Hazy golden/amber beer with a decent offwhite head. Yeasty fruit aroma, spicy, grpaes, citrus, bready, some floral notes. Yeasty floral flavor, citrus, grapes, dandelions, some bread. Decent beer. mcberko (18390) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 12, 2015
On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours an opaque dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of spices, earthy bready malt, and light red fruits. Flavour is unusual, with notes of spices, earthy, bubblegum, and an astringent hippiness on the finish. Not sure the flavours are in harmony here. There’s a weird spicy herbal quality to this. Not convincing, but certainly not bad. Oakes (18167) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 16, 2014
Bottle, from the Gibsons LDB.
Murky dark red. Aroma has more fruity acid notes than you’d expect. Malty, caramel mostly with some fruity character, and just a touch of ancho. Not entirely cohesive.
