12oz blue label (best by 2018?? the stamp is difficult to read) pours mostly clear sparkling gold with a short but sticky head. Aroma hops manifest as apricot nectar and dried herbs, while yeast is estery in the way of banana and phenolic in the way of salt, granite, minerals. Pale malt resembles toasted cereals and baked crackers. In the mouth it’s medium-full bodied with velvet-soft carbonation, medium sweetness and light bitterness. Pretty fun yeast-driven strong Belgian golden ale here from Ommegang, cleanly fermented and properly bottle-conditioned. PhillyCraft (7597) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 10, 2016
Backlog, Bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with average sized top. Smell is belgian fruit, yeast, grain, and bananas. Flavor is similar with belgian candy sugar, spices, wood, and other misc fruits. body was medium to fuller. Pretty sweet aftertaste. BlackBeerPG (807) - Darien, Illinois, USA - OCT 17, 2016
Taste: Nice crisp, bready, spiced, tangy, banana notes. Complex yeast bread nose. Gold, mostly clear, with a big foamy white head and sticky lace. Medium almost filling body. Nice kick to it, very much a Belgian Tripel then blonde. billtheman (87) - milford, Delaware, USA - OCT 10, 2016
No where near as good as other Ommegang offerings. Is an OK beer but not one I would choose if other of their beers are available. No real aroma, appearance is fine, but not really any remarkable taste. TH28 (470) - - SEP 16, 2016
12oz bottle. Code dating is faded and indiscernible. Appearance: Golden and mostly clear, with some floating sediment and a frothy white head that dissipated fairly quickly.
Aroma: Fruity esters abound. Pear dominates, with some banana, clove, and apple. Also pick up a touch of alcohol.
Taste: Rich malt sweetness, very fruity with pear most prominent, some banana, low spicing, a light bitterness and a strong, almost solvent like alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, moderately high carbonation. Strong alcohol warming.
Finish: Very dry. Fruity alcohol esters linger well after the swallow.
Overall: Has the typical Belgian Strog Ale characteristics with fruity esters, sweet maltiness, and high carbonation. This differs in that the alcohol comes across a little too strong, with some heat and solvent like character that harms the overall balance of the beer.
