First rating of 2016! On draft at Good Dog Bar in Philly. This beer pours a golden color with a very minimal, white head. There isn’t a whole lot of lacing either. The sweet nose featured some grassy hops, bready malts and some light yeast. The body wasn’t too heavy and the flavors were really well balanced. The flavors were on the fruity side, with hints of grassy hops, bread, yeast and grapes.

Bottle. Golden amber with a large, almost white head that lasts quite well. Aroma of ornages, dough, some banana, clove, pepper. Medium bodied, moderate to high carbonation. Sweet oranges, nectarines, what might kindly be called sugary dough, far too much clove, some pepper at the bitter and somewhat hot finish. I suppose it’s not _that_ boozy - I still wouldn’t have guessed as high as 9.5%. And La Chouffe and their "IPA Tripel" are both quite boozy. I dunno why they get away with it and this doesn’t quite - softness of mouthfeel? Better pale malt? More fruit?

301215. We are only just starting to see Brewery Ommegang beers here is Brisbane but it has been well worth the wait. I picked this bottle up from Archive Beer Boutique and from the time that you open it everything about this beer screams Belgian Ale. The aroma is all about tropical fruit with peach, nectarine and apricot coming through, along with a clove spiciness. In the glass the beer looks reasonably thick and while it is not as full bodied in the mouth as you are expecting it to be it still has a full rich creamy mouthfeel that makes you wonder why you only bought one bottle. At 9.5% ABV this is not a session beer and it needs to be treated with respect although it does contain the alcohol very well. Smooth and full flavoured I cant wait to try more beers from Brewery Ommegang. There is a sweetness in the finish that sits well alongside the malt. Make no mistake this is a very complex beer.

So good that I texted my grampa while drinking it and told him I was Groot. Oh, specifics on the beer? Sure! It pours a nice light shade and like just about everything Ommegang has ever made, it’s smooth as hell and rich.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured hazy, orange in color, white head and nice lacing all over the glass. Aroma of yeast, banana, some floral notes. Taste is a bit boozy, citrus fruit, spice and yeast. Interesting and complex. Very good beer.

Unclear pale golden beer. Dry solvent nose, yeast, white candi sugar. First a dry taste, then getting sweeter and slick, despite good carbonation. Bit middle of the road.

A fruity, vinous aroma leads you into a powerful fruit and alcohol body. Apples, pears, plums, and hints of cocoa. Finishes dry.
