This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

bottle...moderately hazy pale yellow pour with a generous white head. I have a bottle of the cave conditioned sitting in my basement, but I figured I should rate the "regular" version before. Spicy aroma, banana, clove, typical belgian aromas. Nice yeastly flavors, high carbonation, spicy, banana. This is a very nice job done by Ommegang. My brother and I visited the brewery this past fall and enjoyed a sample of hennepin, however I like the bottle conditioned sample better. This is a quality brew.

I am quite suprised that this beer isnt rated much higher than it is. Gorgeous lacing in the glass. NIce pale straw yellow with a thick head. A little bit of Belgian spiciness in the nose but some hops there too. Evervescent and lots of intricate flavors. Some maltiness capitalized and accentuated by the sugar-sweet tastiness. Hops are present. Well-balanced and beautiful.

75cl bottle. Golden with largewhite head. Spicy ginger and banana sort of aroma. Lovely combo of spice, hops, yeast. Spicy beer. Combo of ginger bite, hop bitterness, and yeast give it a hot feel at the back of the tongue that I dont care much for. OVerall, this is a peppery little freaky beer.

Poured a hazy dark straw color with a large white head. Light to medium bodied. Aroma was fruity, spiced, and yeasty. Flavor is lightly sweet, fruity, and doughy. Some light hop and spice finish. Semi-dry finish.

the beer poured a yellow color very close to a lager with the same style head.i got light hints of belgian yeast, straw, and oatmeal cookies out of the aroma.much is the same in the taste.this is definately not bad, just a little over priced at 2.99 a bottle.

750ml bottle. Clear bright lemon yellow with a massive meringue-like white head. The lacing left as the head recedes is incredible; beautiful designs covering the entire glass. Very fruity spicy nose brimming with lemons, peaches, apricots, vanilla, oranges, pepper and coriander. Taste: lemons, honey, sugar cookies, bananas, peaches and oranges. This American version of a Belgian ale has a lively carbonation , a rich creamy mouthfeel and a smooth buttery aftertaste. Absolutely delicious.

Golden color and thin head. Light on the palate with not much in the way of Belgian yeast aroma or flavor. Thin, light on the palate.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2008 Re-rating because I had this draught, which is awesome. Hazy, yellow, slightly sour farmhouse scent. Great balance, and a really cool tap handle, not that that counts for anything.

Hennepin is plainly awesome. A little pricey out of Cooperstown,NY, but hey, still a great brew that fills you up with a good belgian white tripel taste and leaves you wanting more.
