This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Bottle. Hazy light gold with a thick, fluffy, white head. Looks Belgian. Typical Belgian-style nose with citrus, banana, alcohol, and yeast. Nice, balanced flavor with incredible mouthfeel; each individual bubble seems to multiply in your mouth. A slight American bitterness and even astringency lingers, which actually is a positive attribute in my book.

Bottled, while it was crisp and refreshing, this was just way too sweet for me, tasted like grenadine.

Cloudy yellow in color with an attractive, pillowy head of varying sized bubbles. Serious yeasty aroma (bread) with a secondary citrus scent. Many facets to the flavor. Lemon is the intitial flavor. A bubbly, lambic/champagne texture with a bread taste in the middle. Finish is dry; vinous aftertaste. Usually I don't like any vinous characteristics in a beer, but in this case they seem to work in good balance with the other characteristics of the beer. This beer changes in flavor as it warms. It's been out of the fridge for 50 minutes now and now has a flavor profile that is much more singular. Serious earthy malts with hops tasted for a second initially. Lingering coriander taste on the tongue. Some of the vinous finish still evident, but it is no longer the dominant flavor.

Highly competitive with Belgian triples, and its clearly better than some Belgians. O could easliy charge another buck or two and still be competitive.

Pours light copper or honey with an effervescent white head. Aromas of vanilla and earth with a citrus hop bouquet. Quite dry for a Saison with a only a hint of that characetristic honey flavor in the finish. Otherwise, good hop flavor with a bit of straw in the finish. Maybe mine isnt terribly fresh as there just isnt a lot going on here.

Pours straw-yellow with a thick billowy head. The aroma is a nice blend of floral hops and earthy yeast. The taste is lightly sweet with orange and apple fruits, and slight hop bitterness. The 7.7% ABV is only barely noticeable.

Poured from a bottle this beer is an inviting golden color... almost clear with a bold fizzy top. Nice lace is forming as I sip. Aroma is fruity, yeasty with peppery notes...reminds me of a fine wine. Flavor is an outstanding cornucopia of different fruity sweetnes with banana, lemon, apricot and plenty of peppery spice to balance. Not at all heavy with a pleasing fizzy mouthfeel. Pleasant yeasty aftertaste that invites another sip. Ommegang seems to have captured the belgian "magic" in this Saison.

pours with fair head, golden color, a little more bitter than other saisons, but still spicy and fruity.
