Draft @ EBF. Although I’m not huge fan of normal CI, this maple additive has totally taken over this beer, its cloyingly sweet with maple and only some chocolate reminisce in the background. puzzl (3264) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 20, 2010
Tap at EBF. A major disappointment. Super-charged maple, way too sweet, blocking out any and all stout that apparently lies beneath it. Severely lacking in body, as well, making the maple even more unwelcome. These adjunct beers are all a balancing act, and it seems no one can ever nail it. It’s always either too little or too much. Draft at EBF. Pours a black body with a yellow off white head. Sweet maple notes and a drier chocoalte. A bit slick and almost astringent. Dunno why this comes together so much better for founders but dam this could have been better, maybe b/c the base beer is a Belgian stout. j12601 (13189) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - FEB 28, 2010
Pouring at session one of EBF in Boston. Pours a hazy ruby hued brown with a thin white head. Maple, chocolate and roast. Sweet with lots of maple. Sort of like drinking syrup, but still tasty.
